people do it all the time, only problem is that the double standard is institutionalized and systemic, and we all know that people find safety in numbers. it's far easier for people to demonize you as a "racist" simply because you don't feel "guilty for being white". It's kind of impossible to start a large public outcry when the subject matter of the outcry is politically incorrect. much easier for people (and the media) to look the other way because black racism doesn't sell. there's no sob-story to accompany the "white experience" past or present so people don't care about it.
In my personal experience, bringing up the racial double-standard in conversation with a black victicrat and/or white apologist generally just "proves" to them that you're the bigot that they always suspected you of being. Laughable, I know, but it really is the way it goes most times. It's like trying to wake up a sheep, or tell a liberal that they're ignorant, etc... and so on and so on. It's almost always a fruitless effort. IMHO I feel like all that's really left is the luxury of coming here and preaching to the choir. you know how many satirical Trayvon memes and flyers I saw floating around facebook during the time when that was frontpage news? too many to count. did they make a fuck bit of difference? nope, because the only people agreeing with them were "the choir" so-to-speak.
I've always struggled with optimism (as I'm sure has become obvious on the forum). Maybe I'm just being defeatist, or maybe I'm one of the few logical realistic minds out there. Idunno. All we can really do is wait and see what the future holds. My crystal ball is painting a grim picture.
I often found that out to be true about us as well. I only had the chance, and actually succeeded at changing a mind every so often on social media sites. It was very rare. Its probably because after a while, the only people that keep you friended are the ones that totally agree with you, everyone else usually dips out, after you have a disagreement that is bad enough to piss them off and get them to defreind you. It happened all the time. Others would just defriend you with no argument at all, you just posted something that they hated so much they just drop you outright. Most people cannot STAND to hear viewpoints that are against the mainstream of what they've been indoctrinated with through public schools, the media, their parents and peers. It completely freaks them out, and they think you're a nut job, tin foil hat wearer, and you can even provide them with PROOF of your claim, and they still won't believe it, because the indoctrination and the propaganda goes so down deep to their core of who they are, and they can never truly change on their own. I remember how painful it was for me to change, and realize that a lot of what I have been told my entire life, such just simply not true.
I believe that we ARE surrounded NOLA, and if you would like, there is a great book out there that finally helped prove it to me.
Starving the Monkeys is the name of it. Its a great book. It proved to me that we really are outnumbereed and surrounded by Monkeys. A monkey is any person who will take what a man has earned, his heartbeats, and that is either through getting the government to do it by force for him, or actively doing it themselves, because it really matters not how they steal from you. Check out the book:
http://www.starvingthemonkeys.com/ You can buy it from him. Its worth every penny. There are also excerpts from the book on the site you can read for free.
Everyone who I have referred this book to has liked it, GAP is reading it now, and others I have told about it, liked it too as well. I hope you get it and enjoy it as well.
