Just learned that the US House of Representatives is going to vote on bill H.R. 822 which would allow you to conceal carry in another state if you currently have a CCW in your home state. There are now 241 co-sponsors and many feel that it would pass today if brought to the floor.
There is also a mirror bill currently in the US Senate at the committee level.
On one hand I do not support this bill as it means that the Federal government is dictating what laws will be in each state. On the other hand my RI or PA CCW will allow me to CC in any state. I am torn.

honestly I think I'd rather keep it up to the states. if we give them the power to allow something, they can just as quickly deny it.

Agreed, the 2nd amendment should apply to the State using the Privileges and Immunities Clause of the 14th amendment, this bill shouldn't even be needed.

Every other license must be recognized by all states. States that did not allow interracial marriage still had to recognize the licenses of interracial couples from other states. And marriage is not a specifically enumerated right, unlike the right to keep and bear arms.
Yes, nation wide constitutional carry would be perfect, and we all know states like NY, and CA are just going to ignore this law if it passes anyway, but I shouldn't have to face arrest when I go to CA to visit family. There is also HR 218, which gives LEOs the authority to carry nationwide, regardless of local laws. Doesn't that violate the 14th amendment? "Nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws", sounds like some people, simply because they have a different job than I do are given more protection under the law.

you bring up some good examples why this wouldn't be anti-state. After all we not have to have a drivers license for each state do we?
EJR you bring up another good point.
You know in theory, by a state not upholding the Second Amendment as it is written is in fact a federal violation.
Well if this passes both houses in congress it is sure to be vetoed by Barry BUT that's not the point. The point is that the US Congress passes this law.
