Mid-term Election AAR 2018
« on: November 07, 2018, 09:56:22 AM »
I would like to read your thoughts on the mid-terms. Here are mine...

I have been inundated this morning with phone calls, emails and even on my morning ham radio net this morning. So, I feel it appropriate to post this on my site UnchainedPreppers and FaceBook.

First, I would like to thank everybody who voted yesterday. You folks are truly winners in my book. Whether you voted for Democrats or Republicans you participated in a 227-year process. Congratulations!

Next, I would like to say to the Democrat party, “well done.” Not unlike the Republicans in 2010, you marched in unison and voted to start turning the fleet we call the United States.

Now with that written, my general thoughts on the 2018 mid-term elections are:

> There was no “Blue Wave” as predicted by the media. The Democrats in a off year election although controls the House it is only by
    two seats at this writing,
> The Senate is still in the hands of the Republicans and as it appears, they will grow their seats by 3-4, and
> Many Progressive Governor’s lost their races.

Now the “Great Negotiator”, President Trump will be challenged to ern that self-assigned title. Former President Clinton was able to do it post the Republicans winning the House in 1996. We will have to see what transpires.

With the Democrats only holding the House by 2-seats there is no clear mandate that the country is going left. Nor would a 2-seat Republican majority. I just pray that Rep. Pelosi does not become the Majority Leader. She is a polarizing influence. To get anything passed they will have to work with Trump and the Senate.

There is about 60-days before the first week of January. I suspect that many of the 100 Bills passed by the House in the past year are sitting in the Senate. I wonder how many will be rammed through now. If I was Trump, I would at least make sure that “tax-cut II” is passed. We must keep this economy train on the tracks.

The Senate is now strongly in the Republican camp. Treaties, trade agreements, Federal judge selection’s, et cetera will continue and will reflect Trump’s direction for the country. This is a major win for the Republicans. In the next 60-days I again suggest that the Senate gets off their but and passes Bills passed by the House.

Progressivism, socialism, communism that has began to take hold in the Democrat party has been stopped dead in their tracks. American’s have stated that they want none of that. So how does this change the 2020 Democrat Presidential nomination? I suspect more to the center.

Let’s review:

> There was no “Blue Wave”,
> Rural Vs. Urban America. The country is realigning themselves left to right. Democrats are losing in middle America,
> Trump is no way down and out. He is like a Swiss Army knife – He will just pull a different tool out and go forward, and
> Progressivism, socialism, and communism were soundly defeated. Will the Democrats double down or change their message?

Peace to all,
JohnyMac

This cheered me up after the Gavin Newsom news.

The democrats have already said they would start investigations and law suits. They're going to have to be very careful because President Trump said two can play this game. President Trump has already named a new temporary AG who can serve for over 200 days and is a Republican. The democrats are screaming because they know the witch hunt is over.

I think there will two years of grid lock, and the divisiveness will continue to escalate.  Nothing has been resolved between the parties and nothing will be resolved.

I just went onto FB and was surprised the visceral being written by my Progressive friends. In essence they are all doing a similar "Hillery lost scream" we saw post November 2016 Presidential elections. The bottom-line is you and I are at fault because there was no Blue Wave.

Sadly, I think nothing has or will change as we march the the chasm called CW.

My after action report is as follows:

My district, NJ CD-03, has fallen. It looks like the Dem will win by about 3K voters. Let me point out something about turnout - in 2014 midterm, we had 72000 voters; in 2016 general election, we had 135,000 voters; in this midterm, we had 104,000 voters. So, this election was extraordinary in terms of turnout. And while my county swung 61% to 37% for the Republican, the other county had enough in the tank to defeat that. Only one New Jersey congressional district is now represented by a Republican - quite a change from the five we had.

I think that the Democrats taking the House is a blessing in disguise - they might give Trump the ability to look bipartisan if they can fix infrastructure and fix healthcare, and they will look like obstructionists otherwise. Who doesn't want to see Maxine Waters, Nancy Pelosi, and Occasio-Cortez as the face of the Dems for all of the voters to see? I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed we didn't keep the House, but given how big the predicted "Blue Wave" was, we did a pretty good job of cutting it down a bit. They can investigate all they want, and even impeach if they want, but the Senate will not convict and it will just give Trump the talking point of the Dems still trying to undo 2016.

The Republicans keeping the Senate is huge - judges, judges, judges everywhere! There was an uncorroborated report in September that Notorious RBG's cancer returned and that she may retire in January 2019, but it didn't get much press due to the Kavanaugh circus. This means we may have a few more Supreme Court Justices coming (plus a flurry of district and circuit judges). As of right now, the 2020 Senate map also looks very good for us.

I expect the long march of socialism to continue. We need to continue to develop networks and our skills because it is still on the path to ugliness at the moment - just look at the Acosta moment yesterday as well as the protesters at Tucker Carlson's house.

I also think you should be stocking away AR lower receivers like a squirrel before winter, and be sure to split them up in different locations. Given how close some of these anti-gun loonies were to taking power - come on Georgia, Abrams said she may support confiscation so why the HELL WAS IT SO CLOSE - so we need to be sure we got what we need in house.

That is about it for now. Keep your head on a swivels, ladies and gentlemen. Tick Tock.

Right on cue: 85-year-old Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has reportedly been hospitalized after fracturing three ribs in fall at court.

Sadly I doubt any will see the inside of a courthouse much less the inside of a prison

pelosi has the full support of the media and knows she can get away with anything, its very sad for our Country. Heck I dont recognize it from 20 years ago, what will it look like 20 years from now?

IMO, we need a reset. Whether it be economic, political, or CW.

Lets hope the reset is economic because the other two will cost lives.
I think big things are going to happen before the new congress is seated, Sessions has already resigned and the new acting AG is a tough guy.

Economic will cost lives too - it just won't be as obvious. But, it saddens me that I have to admit that neither of you are wrong...
