I would like to read your thoughts on the mid-terms. Here are mine...
I have been inundated this morning with phone calls, emails and even on my morning ham radio net this morning. So, I feel it appropriate to post this on my site UnchainedPreppers and FaceBook.
First, I would like to thank everybody who voted yesterday. You folks are truly winners in my book. Whether you voted for Democrats or Republicans you participated in a 227-year process. Congratulations!
Next, I would like to say to the Democrat party, “well done.” Not unlike the Republicans in 2010, you marched in unison and voted to start turning the fleet we call the United States.
Now with that written, my general thoughts on the 2018 mid-term elections are:
> There was no “Blue Wave” as predicted by the media. The Democrats in a off year election although controls the House it is only by
two seats at this writing,
> The Senate is still in the hands of the Republicans and as it appears, they will grow their seats by 3-4, and
> Many Progressive Governor’s lost their races.
Now the “Great Negotiator”, President Trump will be challenged to ern that self-assigned title. Former President Clinton was able to do it post the Republicans winning the House in 1996. We will have to see what transpires.
With the Democrats only holding the House by 2-seats there is no clear mandate that the country is going left. Nor would a 2-seat Republican majority. I just pray that Rep. Pelosi does not become the Majority Leader. She is a polarizing influence. To get anything passed they will have to work with Trump and the Senate.
There is about 60-days before the first week of January. I suspect that many of the 100 Bills passed by the House in the past year are sitting in the Senate. I wonder how many will be rammed through now. If I was Trump, I would at least make sure that “tax-cut II” is passed. We must keep this economy train on the tracks.
The Senate is now strongly in the Republican camp. Treaties, trade agreements, Federal judge selection’s, et cetera will continue and will reflect Trump’s direction for the country. This is a major win for the Republicans. In the next 60-days I again suggest that the Senate gets off their but and passes Bills passed by the House.
Progressivism, socialism, communism that has began to take hold in the Democrat party has been stopped dead in their tracks. American’s have stated that they want none of that. So how does this change the 2020 Democrat Presidential nomination? I suspect more to the center.
Let’s review:
> There was no “Blue Wave”,
> Rural Vs. Urban America. The country is realigning themselves left to right. Democrats are losing in middle America,
> Trump is no way down and out. He is like a Swiss Army knife – He will just pull a different tool out and go forward, and
> Progressivism, socialism, and communism were soundly defeated. Will the Democrats double down or change their message?
Peace to all,
JohnyMac
