Air Defender 23 is an exercise taking place in Germany from the 12th through the 22nd. There will be airspace restrictions over Germany, this is the largest air defense exercise they've had yet. It's been in planning for years, so not an "emergency call-up" by any stretch. As with most exercises, they will keep ground and naval forces as low-key as possible so it doesn't get misinterpreted as a buildup to an attack. Still happened during Able Archer 83, the Soviets were just a couple steps short of a pre-emptive attack by ENDEX because they were freaked out by what was essentially a tabletop command exercise with some bogus radio traffic for realism.
That being said, it's summer here in the US, time for all the LARPers to start histrionics every time they see a NG convoy. If you do see a convoy or a rail movement, try to get as many bumper markings as you can, is it a NG unit, an active unit travelling to NTC or somewhere else for a deployment workup, vehicles being moved to a depot for refurb/storage, or is it a legit deployment?
