Important News For Those Who Don't Google.

I know TG is on a rant about news vrs prep content. (I'll stay out of it for a change.)  But this could be important so I'll list it and a reminder.

The strongest solar flare in five years (X5) blasted out this morning and electric utilities across the country have been notified by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to be on watch for outages.  Although it is a glancing blow the AOAA is calling it a smack in the nose.  It should arrive tomorrow.

Also tomorrow, March 8th, is the day the FBI stated they would shut down servers affecting an estimated 4-8 million internet users across the nation.  This is supposedly to remove a virus that has infected servers across the country.

There was something else as well but it seems to have jumped right out of my mind.  It's hell getting old.  I'm sure I'll remember it when it smacks me in the face.  LOL!

More than likely will just produce some pretty auroras, maybe some communication problems, but certainly nothing civilization shattering as far as I can see from the date. I suspect some air travel may be re-routed as a safety precaution too. If you have clear skies, get out and see some cool shit.

Im with crudos on this one.  They speak of a possibility of the power loss because if is not unheard of in the past but it has been stressed that this is NOT an extreme event.  Flights already have started to be rerouted and the most common effects we will likely see are comms loss, GPS screwing up (worse than it is? lol), and radiation NEAR THE POLES.

Does this mean certain parties would not use this as an excuse for other occurrences?  I would be giving them too much credit saying no.    ;D

I don't expect this one to be civilization ending.  Perhaps some localized outages.  This one is a glancing blow.  Not one that is coming directly at the Earth.  If the sunspot was directly lined up with the Earth when it went off it would be more of a problem.  The same sunspot has blasted out a previous X and several M's.  It will be facing the Earth in a couple of days. 

I think part of the issues they are worried about is that we are currently dealing with the ionized particles from the previous flares and the particles from this one are going to be piled on top of them.

Just check this site.  If the sun hasn't bellowed anything by Friday you should be good.  It can take between a day to two days for a coronal cloud to reach us depending on it's speed.
