Immigrant Teens to Be Housed at Dallas's Kay Hutchinson Convention Center

AP reports that The Health and Human Services Department has contracted the Kay Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas for a 90-day gig. The purpose is to house up to 3,000 male illegal immigrants between the ages of 15-17 to gain time to figure out what to do with them.

Asked about housing migrant teens at the convention center, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Monday that the administration has been looking for additional facilities for unaccompanied children but that she would have to look into the specifics of the arrangement in Dallas.

You would have thought the government would have learned from their mistake back in New Orleans, post Katrina, that it is not in the best interest of the interned people or the surrounding community to do this.

The Dallas Convention was askes to comment on this development. Their response was that details are still being worked out with HHS.

I suspect that, there are other convention centers in other cities in contract talks with HHS too. Maybe your city. Are convention centers are becoming the new FEMA camps?
