Well it looks like the east coast will not be spared from Hurricane Joaquin. So I have started this thread where people can share their Joaquin stories if any.

Learning of Hurricane Joaquin earlier in the week, Wednesday I drove from the cabin back to my house in RI to prepare for the winter a bit earlier than planned for.

My todo list included:
> Swapping out a bilge pump on my old sail boat Mad Max. I sold it in August but felt guilty leaving her with a 35 year
   old bilge pump. I couldn't find a repair kit so I bought a new one ($300-) and installed it. I am also going to change out
   the old hose today. Nothing like crawling around in a cramped bilge on a moored boat in a nice Northerly storm. This
   blow has nothing to do with the hurricane though.
> Towed a neighbors boat that wouldn't start to a sheltered marina. The next day I towed it again to a launch ramp so
    he could put it on his trailer for the winter. We were going to load mine too but I need it today to go out to Mad Max
    and install that new bilge hose.
> Today (Friday), at noon (high tide) I will have to raise my dock. Sounds easy but nothing is easy when lifting a ~2 ton
    dock, in the rain and a northeast breeze in the 20-30 knt range.

If I get my todo list done, I get to drive for 6 hours back to the cabin on Saturday. To continue my whine...I am driving a Dodge Dart not my truck at the moment. My truck is in the body shop back at the cabin. They are working on the damage caused by that tree top falling on it back in July.

Extended Cab?  Crew Cab?  Looks alot like mind.  But mine not 4wd.

And you might want to have waited on getting the truck done.  I would be good to pull a boat back with you.  With this one, you might need it up there. 

Thinking about it if you need a boat, it best be an ark.  If so, swing south and pick me up.

Supercrew Nemo.

After 4+ hours of work and strategy we got my dock lifted yesterday. Basically we secured the dock with 5/8 no stretch halyard line and let the tide run out. Once the falling tide had left the dock high & dry. The dock wasn't bouncing like a bucking bronco.

Then we hoisted the dock with chain hoists to the winter height. Although we didn't have the waves to worry about the wind and steady rain didn't make it any easier.

When we were done we decided to work on the bilge hose Saturday (Today). If we are successful I may get to go back to the cabin yet today.

It looks like the southern Atlantic states are getting pommeled with rain as I type. That rain and wind will be working it's way into the mid-Atlantic and then New England with heavy wind and lotz of rain.

I have nothing on my todo list as complex or big as yours.  :dance:

All I did was top off my truck park it in an area combined windlee from a building with easy egress and picked up the case of ammo I had waiting for me at UPS.

I am cloudy and a possible shower down here.  But most of SC best be well tied up or they are headed down the river.

Likely NC and SW Va are in a similar situation also.

Think about the folks who will blow off the next one because this one missed.  And then a cousin of Katrina and Sandy comes through with better aim in the next year or 2.
