At this stage in the game I don't believe that the flag from that video represents me or what I took an oath to support and defend.  I also believe that it no longer truly stands for what generations of men and women have sacrificed everything for.  I am not surprised though that they would do this... I mean at least the part of the movement that speaks the loudest are communist/socialist/anarchists.  They would love to see this whole country burn and replaced with their idea of a utopia.  If they were peaceful 100%, respected others and their property, and outed immediately those that cause violence and damage against the cops and others that would be different.  But I seriously think they have been co opted and are now just the neat little excuse that the feds needed to federalize and militarize the police more/faster.

Yea. What a sad state we live in where the symbol that much of us love can be burnt by people that have no idea what it means to serve anyone but them selves.

Alright, that's it.  The next time the storm troopers beat the snot out of these assholes I'm going to applaud.  What I wouldn't give to be a storm trooper in Oakland for a day.    [img]http://bestsmileys.com/ar

In the beginning of the video there were folks walking away with guilty grins on their faces as if they thought it was a joke BUT didn't want to be part of it. I wonder why nobody stood up and said something? Anyway I digress.

Many, many, many, years ago the KKK was active in PA. I was at my new in-laws house and on the nightly news there was a 2 minute clip of KKK members walking across some bridge in SW PA. Well my mother and father in-law and my new wife started belly aching about how "that should not be allowed."

I explained to the gathering that what they were doing was covered under the 1A of the Bill of Rights and although I did not agree with the cause I did support them in their right to exercise ther 1A.

Well I got lambasted! My father in-law (A Union activist form the Rail Road by the way) just lit into me. Well being 20 years old and in my father in-laws house I let it go. On our way home my wife turned to me in the car and said, "At first I agreed with my Mom & Dad about not allowing the KKK marching however I thought about what you said. You were right."

Back on topic now: Well I kind of believe that too with the OWS crowd. They have a right to say what they want and if it involves burning an American flag: Well go at it.

On the other hand though, (Really fine line here) if I was there I wouldn't have stopped them but I would have been up on thouse steps demanding that they do not burn the flag.

 >:D  I see your point JM.  The first 1A should be protected.  So I guess actions such as burning the flag are protected by the 1A as well.  But it does kind of present a problem.  Let's say I was on the steps with those patriotic Americans.  Then that one guy exercises his 1A right, pulls out a lighter, and sets fire to the flag.  Now when I exercise my first amendment right and start beating the living shit out of him I guess that makes everyone happy.  Because everyone was able to exercise their 1A rights.  All actions, whether protected by the 1A or not, have consequences.  I could live with mine if he could live with his.

What's bothering me is he got away with it in our own country without anyone beating the crap out of him.  It says a lot about where we're headed.

All politics and symbolism aside I'm concerned by this. If they feel comfortable and proud burning their own nation's flag how long will it be before they feel comfortable to start arson on state and federal buildings? I don't want to see marshall law in the states, but if I saw some stykers role in with the active denial system mounted to them I'd have to sit there and laugh at those little bastards.

It's pretty sad that if you beat the hell out of those lowlifes, you would go to jail for literally defending the flag , while those assholes would go free for burning it........I'd have to go to jail.
