Global Gun Ban Tready
« on: June 07, 2012, 04:41:23 AM »
Apparently the U.N. is hosting a Global Gun Trade Tready next month in N.Y.C.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arms_Trade_Treaty

Quote
The Arms Trade Treaty is the name of potential multilateral treaty that would regulate the international trade in conventional weapons. The treaty will be negotiated at a global conference under the auspices of the United Nations from 2 - 27 July 2012 in New York.

The US Senate sent a letter to Barry and Hillary stating reminding them that all treadies have to be approved by the Senate.

http://www.nraila.org/legislation/federal-legislation/2012/senator-moran-leads-efforts-against-un-gun-ban-treaty-restriction-on-funding-for-un-treaty-passes-us-house-committee.aspx?s=%22Sen.+Jerry+Moran%22&st=&ps=

Quote
In March of this year, U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kans.) introduced legislation to prevent any arms treaty from infringing the right to keep and bear arms in the United States.  The "Second Amendment Sovereignty Act," S. 2205, would prohibit the administration from using "the voice, vote, and influence of the United States, in connection with negotiations for a United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, to restrict in any way the rights of United States citizens under the second amendment to the Constitution of the United States, or to otherwise regulate domestic manufacture, assembly, possession, use, transfer, or purchase of firearms, ammunition, or related items, including  small arms, light weapons, or related materials."

Last year, Sen. Moran and 57 other senators signed a letter to President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reminding them that the Senate has final say on treaties, and stating their unequivocal opposition to any treaty that would affect civilian ownership of firearms, challenge the authority of Congress to regulate firearms within the United States, or call for an international gun registry.

With resent developments, e.g. Barry supporting gay marrige, the loss in Wisconson, uptick in unemployment, etc. I wonder what he will do when Hillary comes home and says, "Look what I have done. I signed the Clobal Gun Ban Tready!" I also wonder if the lame stream media will even cover it.

Stay tuned. The New World Order is coming to your neck of the wood.  :))

I know that this subject has already been posted; however, with the meeting coming up next month I thought it was worthy of another, separate post.

IMO, lately Barry is so off the reservation due to a lot of things going wrong in his administration I am afraid he will become a cornered bear. I could see him signing the treaty in hopes of gaining votes.

I realize that I have no control over what he does but it is still a concern of mine.

Relax guys it ain't going to happen.  He can sign whatever he wants it still has to pass the senate with an absolute supermajority (2/3rds).  And even after that Congress can repeal the treaty through simple majority votes which is a lot easier to get.  Even with the current make up of the Senate there's no way that he could get 2/3rds to ratify it.  During an election year the kleptocrats know it would trigger a repeat of 94 and they're way too worried about keeping their jobs to do that.

What you need to be watching is if he's going to try and implement an executive agreement to bind the government to it with a simple majority.  That in itself wouldn't stand up to scrutiny from the most basic constitutional lawyer as it infringes upon the Second Amendment as reinforced by a whole metric buttload of decisions by SCOTUS.  Additionally if he executes it through executive agreement states can then simply pass legislation to nullify any agreement (as Alabama recently did with their counter Agenda 21 legislation).

Yeah chicago jesus would love to do this but even he realizes this is out of his breadth and scope.  What he's got the witch going for is to try to get it changed to a more palatable flavor for the American public.

Treaded, you are 100% correct. With that said, why not approve it knowing that it will get voted down in the US Senate. The man and his posse are not thinking clearly now. I can see over the next few months he grasping at straws.

Think about this - billary comes back and he goes on the record as stating he won't support sending it to the senate in it's current form - that gives him some major brownie points with the public prior to the election.  It also gives him his breathing room that he has stated he'll have after his reelection.  Punt the issue down the road until after election = standard tactic of politicians.

Hmm?  Where did I say I was planning on having a standoff in my home?  Only an idiot would think of something like that, and actually believe he could WIN.  Its going to take a whole lot more than that to WIN.

So there you go. Another rallying cry to vote against Barry in November.

Edit:  Check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_Clause
Apparently the President can sign an international agreements and not get advise & consent from the US Senate. Since 1946 - 1999, the US has entered into 16,000 International Agreements and only 912 were treaties that went to the Senate for advise and consent. I smell another Constitutional debate coming down the pike.

Romney has never seen an Assault Weapons Ban that he didn't like.

?Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts,? Romney said, at a bill signing ceremony on July 1 with legislators, sportsmen?s groups and gun safety advocates. ?These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.?

Read much more here:  http://www.patriotthoughts.com/2012/04/05/from-2004-governor-romney-signs-into-law-a-permanent-assault-weapons-ban/

Amazing, since I consider an AR15 to be a perfect candidate for a home defense weapon.

Anybody here actually thinking of voting for this guy?

Romney does whats good for Romney. If the political climate dictates a gun ban then that's what he will do. If it dictates guns for all then he will pass them out like Cesar handing out bread to the mob. The man has no concern for whats right or wrong. He is only concerned with whats popular and will advance his agenda and or business concerns. And I'm actually sickend by this "Well at least I'm not as bad as Obama" campaign he is now running. I wont be voting for him.

Obama To Sign Anti-Second Amendment U.N. Gun

Second Amendment: The United Nations is putting the finishing touches on an Arms Trade Treaty that transcends borders and may even trample our Constitutional right to bear arms. Every indication is that the president will sign it.

Like the New Start and Law of the Sea treaties before it, as well as the Kyoto Protocol and Agenda 21, the Arms Trade Treaty being finalized at the U.N. this month is one of those feel-good, can't-we-all-get-along pieces of parchment whose net effect is to accomplish little except to eat away at American sovereignty and freedom.

Just as the world's worst human rights violators sat on and often chaired the U.N. Human Rights Council, Iran, arms supplier extraordinaire to America's enemies, was elected on Saturday to a top position on the United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty being held in New York. It began July 2 and extends through July 27.

Quote
"It was Sunday morning early in the year 1776.  In the church where Pastor Muhlenberg preached, it was a regular service for his congregation, but a quite different affair for Muhlenberg himself.  Muhlenberg's text for the day was Ecclesiastes 3 where it explains, 'To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted...'"

"Coming to the end of his sermon, Peter Muhlenberg turned to his congregation and said, 'In the language of the holy writ, there was a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away.'  As those assembled looked on, Pastor Muhlenberg declared, 'There is a time to fight, and that time is now coming!' Muhlenberg then proceeded to remove his robes revealing, to the shock of his congregation, a military uniform."

"Marching to the back of the church he declared, 'Who among you is with me?' On that day 300 men from his church stood up and joined Peter Muhlenberg. They eventually became the 8th Virginia Brigade fighting for liberty."
