ABC's huge interview with Newt Gingrich's ex-wife, Marianne Gingrich, will air tonight, but the network is already putting out excerpts from it.
She said when Gingrich admitted to a six-year affair with a Congressional aide, he asked her if she would share him with the other woman, Callista, who is now married to Gingrich.
"And I just stared at him and he said, 'Callista doesn't care what I do,'" Marianne Gingrich told ABC News. "He wanted an open marriage and I refused."
Gross. Marianne is clearly alleging that Callista Gingrich was fine with sharing Gingrich's affections with her, or potentially other women. Some of the details are pretty maudlin.
"He always called me at night," she [Marianne] recalled, "and always ended with 'I love you.' Well, she [Callista] was listening."
ABC hyped the interview last night by putting it out there that the newsroom was engaged in a debate about the ethics of releasing this interview just before the South Carolina primaries. Mission Accomplished: we're interested.
Notably, Marianne Gingrich defended Newt's tenure in Congress, saying, "At the time, I believed him to be ethical."

I just heard on the radio that ABC was going to originally run Monday, two days post the SC primary. Drudge announced that they had the interview so they bumped it up to tonight.
So there you go. We have left on the Island:
Gingrich Progressive conservative - Looks up to Presidents: Teddy Roosevelt, Wilson, FDR and
Jackson three of the four were progressive and one was a murderer of Indians
Paul Libertarian Conservative - Constitution-ist who is non-interventionist
Romney Moderate RINO - Flip flopper, very much in line with the Republican elite
Santorum Conservative RINO - Seems to sit right between Paul and Romney
My question though, why did Perry go with Gingrich rather then Paul, Romney or Santorum.
-
Newt and Perry gone!
-
It really doesn't matter, IMO. Come November, it'll be Romney or Oshitbag.

Unfortunately, yeah.
If the only choices on the ballot are Romney and Obama im not going to vote.

Let me help you spell that. G-I-N-G-R-I-C-H
:)
Do you really think his ex wife is going to make any difference at all?
Not to me. I don't care how much money he's made or from who. I don't care how many women he's screwed over in his personal life. I don't care if he has a temper.
He's the smartest guy running and he has spent a decade studying the problems we face and how to fix them. He's got the balls to say what he actually thinks and doesn't lay down when he's attacked.
Has anyone else called Obama a socialist? Has anyone else said the idiots in Obama's administration resembles a Disney World Photo of Mickey Mouse and Goofy. Has anyone else actually offered solutions that can actually be implemented?
Oh those that are running he is the only one that might have a chance of changing our situation.
Romney - Not enough balls to beat Obama in a debate.
Santorum - Wouldn't beat Obama
Paul - Sorry, not even a prayer in a National election. Although he might be able to influence the convention planks. It wouldn't surprise me to see Gingrich appoint him to head the Federal Reserve. He's already said the Fed Res needs it's legs cut out from under them.
No one election is going to totally reverse the effects of 8 decades of elections. But who else has the balls to get the ball rolling?

On another note, if Gingrich does win the WH it's going to be live entertainment every day. I can hardly wait to see the fireworks when he takes on the activist judges.

That shit is to creepy and covered up for me to just toss a vote to his ...LIES... as far as I'm concerned.
Sledge, your still my non eating partner. My buddy. We still agree on quite a bit of stuff. Just not this. [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co Love ya man. No homo.

We're tight reaver. Hey, on this Bohemian Grove thing. You have pictures of Newt there right? Cause honestly, that sounds like something some of Obama's people would come out with. They are terrified of having to face Newt and will come out with anything to ensure they go up against Romney instead. That's where this deal with Newt's ex wife on ABC nightline came from. Fear of facing the Newt.
Anyway, just curious where you got that from.
-
Sledge, you are so right- Barry and his team have night mares about going 1:1 with Newt.
I am starting to rethink Newt. We just need someone strong enough to keep him in line.
Lets think of who could fill that position.

That's where we differ JM. I don't want anyone holding Newt in line. I want him to go into the WH and raise the hell he is chomping at the bit to get started on.
I want him to rip Obama to sheds in the debates.
I want him to delete all of Obama's Executive Orders and regulations enacted since his election so we can get some jobs going..
I want him to eliminate government agencies and reduce those he doesn't eliminate to 25% of what they are today.
I want him to send 75% of DHS personnel to the southern border.
I want him to put fines on businesses that hire illegal aliens that will bankrupt them.
I want the military budget left alone.
I want activist judges that are making law brought before Congress and asked to explain how their ruling came out of the Constitution.
Separate but equal is bullshit. The Constitution makes the Judiciary the weakest branch of government for a reason and it damn sure doesn't give judges the power to make law.
I want countries that have been pissing on us to shit their pants when they realize we have a ball buster for a president. No more apologies, no more please like us, and no more bowing to the leaders of other nations.
These are a few of the things I'm looking forward to. You can find the rest on http://www.newt.org/solutions (http://www.newt.org/solutions)

That is proof? Really? LOL! Even the people they say attend it don't seem to be very consistent in there attendance. I'd have to say I'm a little skeptical of this.
I've seen a picture of you looking like a trick or treater. But that's not what it was. It was devil worshiping attire for a special indoctrination ceremony for the Bohemian Grove. ....................... Do you see what I mean?

Newt is a damn progressive. Nancy Pelosi...really??? FDR was the best President? Are you kidding me, Newt?! Entitlements out that ass! He is a classical Democrat or what he calls himself, a New Deal conservative. He simply loves Big Government. Yeah, he'd be better than Oshitbag, and probably get a lot of America working again and handle the Middle East effectively....but don't be fooled that he will get America back on the free society, independent nation we once had. He will not be a Ronald Reagan.

1998 ACU Ratings: Gingrich 100%, Paul 88%, Santorum 84% [last year all 3 were in Congress]
American Conservative Union ^ | 12/2/2011 | staff
1998 was the last year that Gingrich, Paul and Santorum were all in Congress. Gingrich?s annual and lifetime ACU ratings were far better than both of the others:
100% - Gingrich: Annual 1998 ACU Rating (90% Lifetime Rating as of 1998) 88% - Paul: Annual 1998 ACU Rating (88% Lifetime Rating as of 1998) 84% - Santorum: Annual 1998 ACU Rating (83% Lifetime Rating as of 1998)

This is my concern Sledge. I use to work for this CEO who had a shit-ton of great idea's.
He would get us going in one direction. A week later he would have us stop and start on another project. We would go a few weeks and then he would have another idea and we would stop what we had been working on and start AGAIN on another project. It was very frustrating.
Well the Board realized what was happening and brought a COO. Now this COO was great. He prioritized all of the great idea's. He assigned tasks and due dates. He followed up with each project team and he made reports to the CEO. Things got accomplished.
That scenario is what I am afraid of if Newt does not have a handler. Now Romney or Santorum would be a good COO.
Last, I agree with leadpersuasion, why would you pick progressive (Code word for bigger government) as presidents you look up to. That worries me.
-
Now that I've agitated all of the Dr. Paul supporters let me make the point I've been working towards by being a Gingrich posting maniac.
Nothing that anyone posts about politics makes a penny's worth of difference in what anyone else thinks or who they are going to vote for. All of it is personal point of view.
All of the Ron Paul this, and Ron Paul that, after about the first two posts is just an annoyance.
Just my opinion.
-
Yeah Sledge I hear ya'.
We can all slap our gums together supporting X, Y or Z and it won't do a thing to whom becomes the GOP candidate.
The only thing we can do is:
1) Become a volunteer for X, Y or Z in our state or local area, and / or
2) Donate $$$ to their campaign.
With that said: As immature as it is, it is fun to tweak the Paul supporters noses though. ;)
-
Newt [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at
What a joke. His rehearsed and hypocritical outrage makes it a clear cut decision for me to vote third party.

LOL! Yeah, I did that third party vote once. I think it had something to do with that "That sucking you hear is the sound of jobs being sucked out of this country" statement. Perot would have made a hell of a President. He was a ball buster.
But alas, when the conservative vote gets split we get something else entirely time and time again. When I think of what Thompson pulled in SC last time to help out his buddy McCain I get disgusted all over again. Thompson is one of the reasons we wound up with Obama.

I am not agitated one bit on your opinion, Sledge. You are correct when you say that opinions aren't easily swayed on the forum. And I don't think Ron Paul is the answer.....he simply a part, a cog in the machine. IF AMERICA WANTS CHANGE, IT STARTS WITH EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL! PERIOD! I think what Ron did say last night considering repealing Obamacare reflects the issue, which is we have to have more support from the House and the Senate to get anything accomplished no matter the President.
No matter how you vote though, I think the majority on this forum would agree on the principles and morals. Overall, the character of the individual is what I look for.
-
This is probably going to be my last post on Gingrich. I can hear all of the "Oh No's! Say it isn't true!" :)
I know Newt isn't perfect, none of them are. He has a lot of baggage and has a unique ability(read talent) to piss people off.
The reason I like Newt in spite of all of his issues is that he is a ball buster. And the left hates his guts because he terrifies them because they know he will shred Obama. They also know he will shred all of their precious programs and the power base (unions, education, activist judiciary), they've been building.
After 8 years (Bush 2nd term/Obama) of shaking my head and pounding it against the wall while watching what the government has been doing. I am ready to have 4-8 years of entertainment on the evening news that I can laugh about and get excited about. I want to turn on the evening news and see fireworks. I want to see the progressives screaming at the tv and agonizing over what the President and Congress are doing to reverse their advances that have screwed our country over.
Newt will stick in their craw the same way Obama has stuck in mine.
I want to see on the evening news where Van Jones has thrown himself in front of a bus because he just couldn't take it anymore.
Newt is an asshole. Newt is a SOB. Go Newt Go!
Get ready progressives, your worst nightmare is going to move into the White House and put your precious country killing agenda under his heel and dance the twist on it.
I can't wait to watch me some tv while dancing around the living room singing, "That's the way, uh huh, I like it. Uh huh, Uh huh!" :)

Sledge,
what is happening with your primary in two weeks (January 31st). Whats the scoop on the street? Are you seeing a lot of hype? Are you sick of political commercials on TV?
It's nice to have a SP reporter on the street reporting the good, bad and ugly.

SA@TheDC - Does Newt Gingrich Want the Constitution to 'Die?' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06XLIPtCXy8#)
This article sums up my feelings on Gingrich pretty well.
-
I'm always leery of out of context excerpts. In the majority of cases they are misleading. I wonder why the author didn't include the entire foreword. What it said probably didn't fit his objective.
I'm starting to think that Paul supporters are feeling that Gingrich is standing in the way of him getting the nomination. Which isn't the case. The only person standing in the way of Dr. Paul getting the nomination is Dr. Paul himself.
He has the organization, he has the money, he has a substantial following. His problem is his message and the ability to present it. If he stuck to talking about the Constitution and domestic policy he would have a chance at the nomination. His downfall occurs at two levels. His personal foreign policy, which in fact, isn't mentioned in the Constitution. And his inability to present his message without sounding a little weird.
I think his son will be the one that carries his father's message in the coming years. I also think he will do a much better job of it.
-
His personal foreign policy, which in fact, isn't mentioned in the Constitution.
Seriously Sledge? You're better than that, that's the most ludicrous post you've ever made.
Undeclared wars have nothing to do with the constitution or foreign policy right sledge? [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at
Im pretty sure the constitution says only Congress has the authority to declare war and our "foreign policy" is based on trucking out taxpayer dollars for constant, undeclared, unconstitutional wars.
Congress has not declared war against any nation since World War II, a span of more than 65 years. Yet since World War II, U.S. troops have been deployed 71 times to 42 countries, with more than 98,000 U.S. dead and more than 279,000 wounded. A declaration of war was not obtained for any of these conflicts.
What the fuck do you mean his foreign policy isn't mentioned in the constitution?
-

I suspected that "only Congress has the authority to declare war" thing would be coming but I was hoping it wouldn't so I wouldn't have to continue on this subject.
You gave a very good listing of actions undertaken without a declaration of war since the end of WWII. But you didn't give a listing of actions which were undertaken without a declaration of war since 1776.
RS you are correct that the Constitution says that only Congress has the ability to declare war. It also enables and makes it a responsibility of the President to use the military to act in the defense of the nation and it's citizens without a declaration of war. In fact, many of those founding fathers who signed the Declaration of Independence and argued over what to include into the Constitution did, as President, use the military in defense of the nation, or it's interests, in this manner on numerous occasions. As have Presidents ever since.
Indian conflicts, the Barbary Pirates, In China and Japan and the list goes on and on.
Also, the Constitution doesn't support another Paul argument regarding bases oversea's. They are entirely Constitutional in the defense of the Country and it's citizens. His stance against those bases come from his personal opinion. Also, his argument that we mind our own business in regards to other countries and adopt a isolationist stance within the borders of the U.S. is not something that is found in the Constitution. Again, it's his personal opinion.
I'm not saying that Dr. Paul doesn't have some good ideas. What I am saying is that you can't wrap everything that comes out of his mouth in the Constitution. It simply isn't there.
-
After the final South Carolina results Paul and Santorum both gave the best speeches they have done to date. Both were impressive for a change.
Gingrich laid out a little more of his agenda in his speech. Reports are already out that the Republican Establishment will try to submarine Gingrich because they can't control him. From the comments Rove and Brit Hume were making about Gingrich's victory I'd say that those reports are probably accurate.
http://patdollard.com/2012/01/gop-strategist-the-establishment-will-ambush-try-to-replace-gingrich/ (http://patdollard.com/2012/01/gop-strategist-the-establishment-will-ambush-try-to-replace-gingrich/)
Because of what Gingrich said in his speech in regards to the Federal Reserve I think odds are he will be assassinated. That's what happened to JFK when he took on the federal Reserve.
