I agree with your comments OONW.
I have sat back and lurked on this subject since TG first posted it. I have two emotions going on in my head. They are:
1) I want to move too Montana or Texas and push for secession and/or
2) Stay away from that fantasy as it is what Barry wants to implement plan 'X'.
Take a look at what is going on in Washington right now...Let's see now:
> A pretty fierce election where the Presidents challenger almost won
> It's coming out that there was over 59 voting precincts in Philly and 67 in Cleveland with not one Mittens vote. Or what about
the poor election response from our military men & women over seas. Oh that's right they haven't received their absentee
ballots that they requested
> Then we have the Benghazi affair...
> We now have a sex scandal involving Gen. Petraeus and now Gen. Allen; which probably has a connection to Benghazi. AG
Holder knew since mid-summer. Mmmmmm?
> We have the President meeting with senior union leaders and large company CEO's to discuss the economy. No small business
leaders though. And what does Union Leaders have to do with the economy?
> The fiscal cliff is looming. I suspect that the House of Representatives will reject anything that the President sends them if
there is any tax increase in it. Oh Senator Reed wants to increase the deficit by $2.5T. Stay tuned
> Rumors of making Sen Kerry, Secretary of Defense; or Asst Secretary of State Rice, Secretary of State - Both bad choices.
>
and the list goes on.It almost seems that our President is pushing a faction within the Libertarian or Conservative movement to do something stupid. Then he can jump in with all of his new legal powers to solidify his hold on power and implement his (Or someone else's) plan.
Let's add to this equation the 4% drop in the market since November 6th. Yesterday there was over 142M trades when the average daily market t trades in the 125M range. Keep an eye on this between now and the end of the year. This will be your barometer as to when to head for the hills.
Are we at a Black Swan event?
1) The disproportionate role of high-profile, hard-to-predict, and rare events that are beyond the realm of normal expectations in
history, science, finance, and technology
2) The non-computability of the probability of the consequential rare events using scientific methods (owing to the very nature of
small probabilities)
3) The psychological biases that make people individually and collectively blind to uncertainty and unaware of the massive role of
the rare event in historical affairs

I am going to move to the BOL though while our house in RI is being remodeled post Hurricane Sandy. If anything BIG happens it's going to happen between now and January 20th. OH, yesterday, I took the American flag that we fly in front of our house and turned it upside down.
The flag should never be displayed with the union (the starred blue union) down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.[4]
