I got a call from a friend, who knows someone in the oil industry. Apparently one of the main refineries responsible for distributing oil to the U.S. eastern seaboard is currently having problems and as of right now is incapable of delivering oil/gas. He suggested getting all the gas you need right now in case there is a shortage, and before it hits mainstream news.
I do not have a source to link. This is third-hand word of mouth.

Might be the Colonial pipeline company. They were hit with a cyber attack Friday.
The lines were shut down. Do not know for how long.

It probably goes without saying here...
...but as a reminder (the kind I sometimes need myself)
Keep a reserve of gasoline/diesel on hand that has been dosed with Sta-Bil (or the like)
I refuel my tractor (JD/diesel), chainsaws, camping generator, etc with those stores to keep a slow but steady rotation going.
In a prolonged disruption of replacement supply, they would then be gold. And rationed out for only the most critical uses, even months past untreated fuel.

In those small gas powered engines, make sure you use non-ethanol gas. I like the higher octane (93) non-ethanol fuel to be specific. And of course, still add Sta-Bil.

Good idea to spring for the higher octane. Thanks JM, next resupply I will begin doing exactly that... the volume I typically go through will hardly "break the bank" but we all seek more power... never know when it might be required :-)

I first stared using non-ethanol high octane gas back in my 4-stroke 90 HP lobster boat engine in the early 2000's. It really helped my boat excel with no water in a moisture rich environment. Before I splashed the boat in the spring, I would take it to fill up the tank. Later in the season I would add to the 40-gallon tank using a 6-gallon gas can. I tried to use all the gas in the tank by season end. Never had an issue like others did on the water.
Jump ahead to when we bought the redoubt property, I used the same in all my redoubt gas powered engines and never had an issue but once.
My neighbor borrowed one of my chain saws and I asked him to not fill the tank when done. Well, being nice, he did. It seemed to take for ever for that crappy 87 octane ethanol gas to burn its self through and several tanks after. LOL... No good deed goes unpunished.
The best way to find it in your neck of the woods is to look up fuel - racing - and there is usually a local gas station that sells it.
