Title: Fox News Channel to Make Some Big Changes Thanks to: Abernethy, Shine & Scott
Post by: JohnyMac on April 19, 2017, 10:20:22 AM
It appears that the CO-Presidents Jack Abernethy and Bill Shine along with EVP Suzanne Scott of Fox News Channel are working behind the scenes to change the more conservative format of their programing to be more in line with the MSM. Their recent attacks on Bill O' Reilly is just one example.

Once O'Reilly is gone how much longer can Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson be on the air UNLESS they change their shows format.

Stay tuned.

An update on this drama...

Quote
With only six days remaining in Bill O’Reilly’s vacation, the pressure on the Murdoch family to decide the embattled commentator’s fate is intensifying. Three sources with knowledge of the discussions said that, while no final decision has been made, the Murdochs are leaning toward announcing that O’Reilly will not return to the air. Sons James and Lachlan have been arguing that O’Reilly needs to go, say these sources, though their father, Rupert, has resisted that outcome.

The prospect of dumping O’Reilly — once unimaginable — has gained steam this week due in part to street protests outside Fox News headquarters and advertiser boycotts on O’Reilly’s air. One network insider said Fox executives are alarmed by the severity of the ad-revenue decline. “It’s worse than Glenn Beck,” the insider said, referring to the advertiser revolt that helped derail Beck’s Fox News career in 2011.

CBS news this evening reported that Fox and O'Reilly have parted ways.  I am offended and feel major agressed.

if you make the company enough money, a few legal bills are just part of the contract.
if your ratings go down and your viewership is quickly heading for retirement homes and on a fixed income - time to retread the image.  out with the old - i think a younger woman will be used to soften their public profile.  I wonder if they can entice a new viewership.

Rumors have it that he signed a new five year contract several months ago for $25M a year. Lets see; 25M x 5years = $125M. I wonder what he will settle for to have Fox tear up their contract?

I suspect it will be somewhere in the middle. Lets call it $55M to $65M which will be paid out over the five years I mentioned above.

Now the thing to watch is if Fox News Channel starts to change their format.

He should not settle for anything less than 100% of what was offered.

There are so many stories around what happened its hard to filter the truth but I would like to know. One story I heard was 50 advertisers dropped him. His show is so popular I cant imagine it being very hard to find another 50. But that is not the point I wanted to make, why did 50 drop him over night? (tin foil hat time) it sounds to me like the left wing is working hard to get rid of every "right of center" form of media and OReilly is a BIG feather in their hat

FOX will try to keep him from going on another station. He has a very large following. He'll probably go on at nine against THE FIVE.

Grizz, I agree with what you wrote. Rush has an interesting take on it.

He feels that there is a group of folks out there being paid to act like thousands are behind boycotting certain advertisers. I guess there are plenty of apps that these folks use.

I suspect that Media Matters is behind it.

MrsMac and I were listening to the Beck radio program this morning and heard that what just happened with O'Reilly with advertisers leaving is now going on against Sean Hannity on Fox.
