The February CPI came out at 0830 hrs eastern this morning and it looks like inflation in February came in at 7.9% year over year. Can you imagine what March's CPI will be after 'go juice' prices topped $4.00 a gallon for petrol and $5.00 for diesel. Probably north of 8.5%.

I love Shadowstats, pricey to subscribe but some interesting numbers to play with. By 1990 calculations, it's around 12%, by the pre-1980 calculations, it's around 16% now. When it was high in the late 70's and early 80's, interest rates were jacked sky-high to cool things off. They won't touch them in any substantive way now, people panic if the Fed criminals even talk about raising the prime a couple tenths of a percent.
