That's the thing, the FBI was never a crime-fighting organization, they carefully crafted that image over the years in the media and popular culture. They've always been an enforcement arm of government hegemony, from fighting mobsters that were created by government policy failures, to Oklahoma City, Waco, Ruby Ridge, Jan. 6th, you name it. The only "criminals" they bust now are either political dissidents and/or semi-moronic patsies that they wind up then arrest in front of the TV cameras. There is no invisible group of "rank and file" agents trying to do the right thing, they're all just trying to keep their position and move up the ladder. They are the American KGB, and always have been.
