« on: January 16, 2014, 03:18:50 AM »
90% chance of 6.4 - 8 magnitude earthquake between now and march in CA according to the link below. I got to searching because i just felt a 3.8 and yesterday same time was a 4.4. Last week a pretty good one hit aswell. 3 I could feel in one week is the most frequent I've ever experienced.

Now is the time to start stocking up on a few things like:

> Bottled water
> Cooking fuel
> Any medicines you could run out of
> MRE's or other easy to make food
> Ammo
> Coolers (Ice chest or two)
> Battery's
> Any other thoughts for Ken

I am sure Ken you are already ahead on your earth quake list. What have you done so far?

Wish you were back in Wyoming?  ;)

Im pretty far behind on my preps honestly. The things I really need asap are:

> Water
> 9mm
> Food

I have some water at another location that ill be bringing over today. 9mm wise im nearly dry. I have a couple boxes of carry ammo and thats it. Even if I can get 2-300 rounds of HPs I'd be stoked. In the early days of especially a major earthquake, I think concealing is important. I start back at work on monday. In a few weeks I should be able to get a few important things.

Remember the earthquake that hit San Fran in the late 80's? The city was Phucked up for years!

I remember the Northridge Earthquake in '94. MrsMac and I were living on our boat in Seattle. I was woken by Mad Max jumping up and down as if a speed boat had passed and left a big wake.

I jumped out of the V-Berth and ran up the companionway trying to get a glimpse of the A-Hole speed boat. Went I got on deck Mad Max was jumping up and down in her berth and the piling's were swirling. It looked looked like they were swirling with a diameter of 1-2 feet.

Stood in the cockpit for 5 minutes or so until things settled down.

We didn't know what had happened until the radio alarm turned on at 6AM. Then heard that there was a 6.7 in Northridge. All I could say was it was eery.

Stay vigilant Ken!

For Ken, or anyone really....

Is there something like earthquake season, where there might be more at certain times of the year, than others? Or is it just completely random? Hang tight Ken!

Im no expert but there are things that can make earthquakes more likely as I understand it. One major factor is when the moon gets close in its orbit around earth. Its gravitational pull makes earthquakes more likely to occur.  It dosent stay on one set path. So sometimes it gets much closer and can cause earthquakes. The impression I get and I could be wrong, is that the moon only gets this close every few years or more and it stays on the close path for a few months. I think thats a major contributing factor to the prediction I linked.

Thanks for sharing JM cool story.

I just hope im not under a car thats on jack stands or something when it hits. That would suck.

If im outdoors when it hits it will be no big deal as far as injury or fear. Its when im indoors and those mild rumbles role through that my heart rate goes up. At any second the house could beat me up. I dont want to fight a house...

When I lived in LA the locals use to say, "It's earthquake weather." I asked what that meant and was told that high temps like seen in a Santa Anna cause earthquakes. Never could prove if that is true or not.
