Tornado Report - Novemeber 17-18, 2013
« on: November 18, 2013, 10:30:22 AM »
It's time for Forum members to report in if they had tornado touch down in their states or AO's yesterday or today.

All's well here in NE Pennsylvania with some minor limb damage. Winds in our AO only hit 28 knots at 02:15 or so this morning. I know some folks in more western states got hit pretty bad. Please check in with a status report.

Thanks!

We had some trees down, here in N.W Pa. No tornadoes though.

Windy here yesterday, but no damage as far as I can tell. My yard is still full of damn leaves though.  :pissed:

We had rain on and off all day yesterday.  Then around 6:45pm the local klaxons sounded off warning the area of impending doom.  About 20 minutes later the wind and rain kicked up a notch and lasted for about a half hour then abruptly died down to just about nothing.  The after math ended up being some minor roof & storefront damage and downed limbs throughout the city and just across the river in Newport, KY.  No big deal.

Since moving here, I've noticed that the natives overreact to storms (IMO) compared to where I used to live down in GA... where we would have storms of much grater magnitude on a regular basis (2-5 times a week) in the late summer.  And god forbid if there is lightening... these natives act like there are scud missiles raining down while cowering & huddled together with their sobbing small children.  It's quite amusing considering I grew up on the highest hill in a "lightening alley" and was subject to direct hits on my home regularly.

To your point SK, it is interesting how some folks deal with mother nature. Even in Rhode Island where 90" or more snow is the norm each year. With just a hint of snow, people run off to the store to buy bread, milk and eggs.  I think in part it is the 24/7 news coverage today of everything. What can we sensationalize today to improve our rating's.

Well the good news seems to be that members of the forum weathered (Pun intended) the series of tornado's well.

Got some rain around me the past day or two. Nothing much.
