Boycott Dicks and avoid this chain if you can help it and stand by the businesses that held the line.  :pissed:

I kinda have mixed feelings about it. A lot of businesses over reacted. I'm just glad that somebody is going to have a bunch of ammo. Maybe they're trying to right a wrong, who knows. They do seem to be investing a lot in to guns and ammo. They don't have to. I know, they're out for the money. Maybe I'm temporarily blinded by the words  new gun stores, and lots of ammo. LOL :-\

Sorry to harshen your mellow man.  ;D I did say avoid them if you can help it. So if you're in need and they can take care of it I guess you're in the clear.

Are you saying boycott Dicks because they raised prices during the gun scare? I'm curious why a lot of guys feel this way. Care to explain?

In addition to gouging, Dicks also was one of the first stores to remove AR's from the shelves after Sandy Hook from what I remember. Personally, I didn't go my local Dicks before that, way too over-priced, and horrible selection in the firearms department. I always try to support the little guys in my area, before the big boxes. Just my preference.

Also I believe they cancelled orders for AR-15s that were already paid for on Christmas Eve leaving customers eff'ed over during the holidays.

Good to go.

Walmart never stopped carrying ar15s though. They liked making money more than making a political statement.

I've never had a good shopping experience at dicks. Won't be to hard to boycott the new store as well.

Wanna bet the media uses the "poor ammo sales" at field and stream to show gun ownership is declining?

When Dick's went postal after Newtown I send my Dicks card to the president of the company with a short letter. The letter was respectful however very specific on why I was voting with my wallet.

Now with that said, I have multiple avenues to buy what I need. If some folks do not I understand that they will have to go where they have to go to get what they want/need.

Dick's was a convenient place to get certain expendable camping supplies (lights sticks and the like) look for good socks, boots and some other gear.  I think I maybe bought one box of ammo from them in the past, and a bow and arrow for my son.  But I don't need them, I have several other big box outdoor stores within an hour's drive.

I posted on their FB page and sent them an e-mail.  Also in a fit of being an ass, I went in, did a bunch of shopping, had a full basket, sauntered over to the gun counter and asked where the ARs were.  The dude behind the counter said they didn't carry them anymore and when he explained why I said OKay I'll go do my shopping at Academy, left the basket there an went out the door.

 to funny Currahee! I love it!

Many, many years ago I was at the grocery store shopping with my grandmother. I was seven or eight at the time. Made our rounds of the store and finally found ourselves in-front of the butcher department. In those days there wasn't a 100' long cooler for pre packaged protein, you had to get your meat from a real live butcher; often smoking a cigar.  ;)

Well my grandmother pointed to a roast she wanted and he grabbed a different one. She told him that she wanted the one she originally asked for. I forget the reason he gave her but she said, "alright" and took the roast he gave her.

Well we promptly walked down the aisle that had toilet paper and such items. She pulled out a bunch of rolls of TP, shoved the roast all of the way in the back and re stacked the TP.

She turned to me and said something to the tune of, "don't take crap from anyone." Smiled and proceeded to the check out for the other items she had in her cart.

That is quite the dick move. Especially since lowly associates have no control over the higher up decisions. But now they have to work that buggy back to the shelf because you got your feelings hurt.

I truly was up in the air on this matter. Dick's never was my favorite of stores, and they did piss me off when they did that whole gun ban thing after the shooting. But, so did a lot of other businesses. I am usually the "Stand your ground" type, however, I was willing to give them the benefit of doubt, and being they ARE getting back in to guns and ammo, when they don't have to, I figured, let bygones be bygones. BUT, it probably is only about the money, since gun sales skyrocketed after the shooting, they want their share of the pie. My official decision on this matter was solved after reading JM's Grandma's words of wisdom. Good story JM! It helped me to see the light. In honor of JM's Grandma, and the roast she left on the shelf, I will NOT be patronizing any of  Dick's stores.

I can live with being a dick, I've done worse over political differences.  (I have got up and left a dinner party when the host told me they were an Obama fan.)

As for the associate, he was going to get his minimum wage no mater what, not like I took a dump on the floor.

...not like I took a dump on the floor.
Actually, that's on my bucket list.  It could be at a store... but preferably through a vehicle sunroof.

That's actually funny because someone took a dump on the floor while I was working at Walmart. I still got the minimum wage. I'm not sure which political statement they were disagreeing with but all I know is that whoever committed that barbaric act is a dick.

This kind of behavior should not be tolerated by Libertarians. Not the crap on the deck the other stuff.
