Covid update
« on: January 08, 2021, 07:39:43 PM »
I know this is a somewhat unpopular subject.

But the new strain of the coronavirus taking hold here in the UK. I kicking the living heck out of us. We are in a third lockdown now. But it came a bit late so things are going to get worse for a while.

The hospitals are nearing capacity so not sure when the threshold will crossed.

The issue here at the moment is in medical provision capacity. The prime aspect of the capacity is in manpower. The doctor and nurse ratio to patients. To many patients needing constant care from any illness or injury. Go past capacity and the quality of care suffers and the death rates start to go up at a faster rate.

So watch out for the UK or South African variants. The mutation has upped the easy of transmission significantly.

Gadget,

Is what you are hearing from the Government accurate?

Have you called or visited hospitals to see what 'they' are reporting is accurate?

Please understand that i am appreciative of the info from across the pond.

The government here in Pennsylvania was saying similar with the Chinese Virus I.

A friend of MrsMac and I belong to our Bible Study group. I asked her how many Covid-19 patients the hospital had. She told me zero. I replied, "that's funny the Governor reports that her/our specific hospital is 50% full of Covid-19 patients."

She just shrugged and said, "well we have none. I do not know where the Governor is getting his info."

Just food for thought.

Good question JM

Things over hear are set up a bit differently. The statistics being reported are pretty solid. The government got into trouble in the past for erroneous reporting on a couple of things. Causing some very public enquiries.

This caused the system to be changed. They set up the Office For National Statistics in response. Charging that office to ensure open and accurate reporting to the public.

So while there might be statistical margins of error. In the main the numbers are pretty accurate.

As a cross check. Evidence of the hospitals having issue coping can be seen in clear view.

There are constant incidents of ambulances lined up outside some hospitals with patients on respiration support in them. Waiting to get in to the hospital. For hours. Due to their not being respiratory support capacity available in the hospital.

They are having to send patients out of London to hospitals further away due to capacity issues.

Population density is a great deal higher here. Most people have experienced someone known to them being impacted by the virus. Whether by a death or serious illness. While there are people who believe this is a hoax or being overplayed. A good majority are watching what is happening in their community and believe through experience that this is real due to that.

Hear ya' gadget. Sorry things are so dire near and in London.

Here in my county of Pennsylvania, since March 2020, we have had a total of 39 deaths directly related to the Chinese Virus. Personally, I have had five acquaintances that have come down with the virus. All but one recovered after taking a cocktail of drugs. The one that passed away, was 93-years-old who had many medical issues. He was one of the founding members of the ham club, I am currently President of.

Just curious, how is your local area doing? If I remember correctly, you live on an island. How are things there?

Thanks Brother

In our county in TN, as of yesterday, we've had 54 deaths attributed to the virus, and 743 are currently infected with the Chinese virus, out of a county population of 15,000. The hospital has been swamped according to anecdotal reports, for example, one emergency room physician saw 70 patients in his 10 hour shift, and they have three ER physicians on duty.  Schools have gone to remote learning, except for kids in kindergarten to the 2nd grade.  No mask mandate, though in the stores the majority are wearing masks.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.
