Jack-booted thugs arresting members of the press in Mo.

That whole department needs to be fired, and several members of it arrested and thrown in jail for violations of civil liberties!

If you'll forgive the snark, I wonder where the Tea Party is when there's real government overreach threatening liberty - oh, wait, this is an area that's predominantly non-rich people of color.

I'm just glad you're not cheering them on W-P Wich.

But you've got to see the humor a bit, maybe?

A member of gang A shoots a member of gang B, gang B and friends get up-set and start robbing more non involved people. Then gang A gets worried that gang B is robbing more then them, So gang A encroaches on civil liberties of the un involved, allowing them to rob them more in the future!

Now you're saying gang C should arrest gang A because gangs are bad...

I guess you can look at it that way.

Have you been watching the news on this?  The cops fired on unarmed protesters last night, thankfully only rubber bullets. They tear gassed the Al Jazeera news van. They've declared a no-fly zone so news repiters can't get footage. The cops are hiding or removing their badges so they can't be identified.  And this is after a documented history of active racism, discrimination, and abuse of power. This is a scary situation and goes to show you can't trust the cops to do anything to help you.

It does make me wonder why the militia folks and Tea Partiers who were all up in arms over Bundy haven't made a peep. Oh, yeah,  because Fox News is painting this as black thugs so nothing to worry about.

Wellie, I do not agree with the Tea Party part of your statement. The Tea Party is a different animal. The Tea Party is a movement concerning taxation and representation in our government. At least My Group in RI is.

My question is where is/are:

> Libertarians
> Constitutionalists
Our President
> Missouri Governor, and
> The communities leaders? Looting is unacceptable. Non violent protesting is justified

Then we have leaders like Al Sharpton who seem to be flaming the flames rather than attempting to quell them.

Then we have Christians being crucified and beheaded in Iraq while Our President is dancing the night away on Martha's Vineyard. It reminds me of the Court of Louis XVI just before the French Revolution.

Coward & Piven - Strategy sure comes to mind.

Quote
In their 1966 article, Cloward and Piven charged that the ruling classes used welfare to weaken the poor; that by providing a social safety net, the rich doused the fires of rebellion. Poor people can advance only when "the rest of society is afraid of them," Cloward told The New York Times on September 27, 1970. Rather than placating the poor with government hand-outs, wrote Cloward and Piven, activists should work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system; the collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis that would rock the nation; poor people would rise in revolt; only then would "the rest of society" accept their demands.

The key to sparking this rebellion would be to expose the inadequacy of the welfare state. Cloward-Piven's early promoters cited radical organizer Saul Alinsky as their inspiration. "Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules," Alinsky wrote in his 1971 book Rules for Radicals. When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system's failure to "live up" to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist "rule book" with a socialist one.

The "Tea Party" just as the "Occupy" movement deflated like the collections of hot air they were. So I doubt they are much more of a factor. (which is a good thing)
"Militia" is an other vague collection name that requires defining.
For instance the folks that showed up at the Bundy Ranch could be identified as "constitutionalists" "libertarians" with a hint of martial background. I'm sure there were some of the "Obama bad, look at me!' crowd...

Now comparing situations...
Bundy was a Federal land grab attempt on a clearly defined target in a loosely populated area where the protesters held the moral high ground. and were able to wield an equal amount of potential force (firearms) without endangering bystanders. And mass media was dissuaded from being there by the powers that be.

These riots have no right / wrong side. just wrong...
One side consists predominantly of "black identity" (defined by sharpton & gang) which is why they are upset at him. They collectively riot on that premise and those that helped shape their identity sit back quietly.
They are upset that they are amongst the poor (justly) and that they are discriminated against by law enforcement (justly), some kid gets shot and what happens? do cooler heads prevail? nope riots...

Then there's the police who get paid via tax by those taxable, who are now getting looted. They must intervene.
The press gets called in by the powers that be and the police are sent in to stop them. cough.. set up, cough...
In the case of Bundy protesters gathered from all over the US and were justified because it was Federal.
Now the police is local, what do people from Atlanta, Georgia and Madison, Wisconsin to say about the local law enforcement of Ferguson, Missouri?

Any groups that identify themselves as constitutional would be smart to stay away from that mess, there will guaranteed backlash from it.

All and all good start folks and thanks for posting Wellie.

I disagree with your comments on the Tea Party Burt. Unlike OWS the Tea Party is alive and making some efforts electing people in the US Congress who have like minded opinions - Primarily fiscally conservative. Not nearly enough but like anything worth waiting for slowly. I think of the Hare & Tortoise tale.

Now here is another take on the reporter being arrested. "How dare the Fourth Estate being treated in such a way!"

Where was/is the Fourth Estate when...

> Benghazi (Read my signature),
> Tea Party and Conservative groups being targeted by the IRS (if the TP was dead the GOP or
   Dems wouldn't care),
> Fast & Furious where Border Patrol officer, Brian Terry was murdered. Or the additional two
more victims linked to the F&F weapons,
> As mentioned earlier, the killing of Christians by IS in NE Iraq,
> The $700M spent of the ACA's software. Heck, APX808, Special-K and I could have designed
a better software system for half ;)
> Hamas firing missiles into Israel and using Palestinians as human shields
> Reporters being spied on by the NSA,
> The Fourth Estate not coming to the rescue of Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi other than Fox
    News and The Blaze,

...happened?

Just some additional "food for thought."

I remember from childhood a slogan on some police cars.  "To Serve and Protect".

I do sometimes wonder if we are seeing a change in policing or if modern tech. makes it easier to see the bad,
Maryland and some other places are even trying to make it a crime to film a police officer in a public place performing public actions.

I think fresh air and sunlight are a good cure for all kinds of creepy crawlies - they hate the light.  ;)
