Ever nearer draws the day when any one of us could be targeted (and "visited") by illustrious members of one of the Federal agencies entrusted with law enforcement.
If you aren't doing something against the law... you could be suspected of owning something against the law.
And they have all of the data they need to make sure the "law" is enforced. Good and hard.
A nice warm, solitary cell without proper arraignment, bail set or "speedy trial", ala J6... _IF_ you surrender safely and without resistance. Never mind the life's disruption and financial ruin.
True story, probably already told it here, old-man-story-repeat-time...
I volunteer as a judge and help with training with a gun dog organization. Because I have an ideal location to introduce dogs to tracking in the forest behind me, I sometimes invite people to come out with their pup to get started. One such person who inquired of our training had a Lab mix (nothing like the Continentals our organization focuses on). Anyway, unlikely as this particular dog seemed, I extended the invite for the private tracking intro at my place. Which was acted on, motions gone through. While on the property, he couldn't help but see the "Hobby Hut" where my still was in plain view on the porch. Went down and took a good look at it. And of course with my suppressor tax paid, my postings a little rambunctious at times, well...
During shoot-the-breeze, get acquainted I asked what he did for a living. "Law enforcement" Oh really, gee whiz, I had family in law enforcement too. What outfit? "FBI".
I took it as one of two things:
1) one, he found this mutt somewhere and genuinely wanted to hunt the dog, end of story.
2) he was simply doing discreet assessments on what would likely be a long list of "people of interest".
Haven't seen nor heard from him since.
Perhaps he enjoyed a good hunting season.
