Very interesting article (short answer/spoiler: the answer to the question posed in the title is "no") and very thought provoking. One of the paragraphs that really struck me is below, because this is exactly what panic buying does to a supply of anything. Good to remember in a crisis.

Thanks for catching that it was missing Special-K!)
Steve Hornady, president of Hornady Ammunition, told the NRA: ?We?re working as hard as we can to get as much out as possible?. People walk into the store, they don?t see as much as they want so they take everything they can get. The next guy who comes in can?t get anything, so he panics?. But there is no government conspiracy.?

Thx for posting Wellie.
I am starting to see ammo prices go down as many store owners are caught with extra inventory and interest payments to banks never ending.
Having a retail background: If I was a retailer I would drop my ammo prices before my competition does and the market becomes flooded. You have to drop now before hunting season, or you are going to be stuck with the inventory when Jan 1 comes around and for all intents and purposes, hunting season is over.
Great time to hold off buying ammo if you don't need it. Then buy like you have never bough when the market crashes.
-
And buy from all those people who stacked it high for no reason other than to try and make a fast buck, who are now wondering how to pay that credit line off.

You make it sound like making a profit is evil. Typical socialist.

Making profit is great, but making profit and having ethics is even better.
Me a socialist? :lmfao:

Grudgie, I think there's a vast difference between being a socialist and laughing at idiots who tried to take advantage of a situation to price gouge and stockpile for no other reason than to make a profit.

Thinking about the price gouging on ammo this past 10 months or so; I think of what my Mom use to tell me..."What goes around comes around." What I always say that I stole from Dennis Hopper in Easy Rider, "Karma man... KARMA!" :dancingBanana:

Ammo is fully stocked at my local walmart except for .22.
I think the shortage is finally over, or people have stopped buying as much.
