The point is that obesity is a National Epidemic.

One that is having an effect on every aspect of our way of life, from the economy to the armed forces.

This is a very real threat to our way of life and one that we all personally have the power to fight on the homefront.

Having healthy foods served in schools would help a great deal I believe. Most kids buy from what the school cafeteria has to offer instead of bringing their own lunch anyway so the government might as well start regulating what the cafeteria serves. Public School is a government institution after all.

On a side note, is multi cam the Army's new camo pattern? I saw the pic in the link.

Mission: Readiness believes having healthier food in the cafeteria and in vending machines will help slow - or even reverse - rising childhood obesity rates. And healthy children are more likely to grow up to be healthy adults who can serve their country.

So now were being groomed from childhood to serve our government.

Now that im older ive come to realize the reason i did so poorly in school was because i was always so hungry. I have a tough time concentrating on stuff that dosent interest me as it is. Now being hungry the entire time and i was doomed from the get go.

If i could have gotten a solid meal after a couple periods and then a nice big lunch i might have been a freakin straight A student. And im not saying they should give students the food. Just allow the time and offer the food for sale.

I still have these issues to date. But now im an adult and know i need to pound a huge breakfast in order to make it all the way until lunch. And then again i eat a huge meal to make it until i get home.

You are absolutely right, it is the hardest fight of most people's lives.

Thanks brother! It's been rough, especially with underlying medical problems and a family history of big bellied men. They started out early and I spent most of my teen years on my butt because it simply hurt too much to be active. No one really gave me the swift kick in the butt I needed, but I don't blame them. They were just as confused as I was.

But heck, I was learning to write fiction and planting the seeds that lead me to my love of history and militaria. Today, I've gone from 280-250 in about six months. I'm hoping to drop about 30 more before election day. Lifting weights, cardio, that stuff would have killed me in the past!

Grudgie, you are mistaken.  While parents are not taking the time to educate their kids on eating healthy and sending them to school with a lunch, it is not the govs place to be the parent!

Want to help school kids get healthy?  GET RID OF THE MOTHER F***ING SODA MACHINES.  GOT RID OF THE EMPTY CALORIE HIGH SUGAR BULL SHIT SNACKS THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO THEM NOW, EITHER IN THE CAFETERIA OR MACHINES.  OFFER COMPLETE MEALS MADE WITH HEALTHY INGREDIENTS INSTEAD OF GARBAGE FILLED PREMADE CRAP THAT WOULD MAKE MONSANTO EMPLOYEES CRINGE.  BRING BACK MANDATORY P.E. AND MAKE SURE THE COACHES/TEACHERS DO THEIR DAMN JOBS.  IF THEY DON'T, THEY ARE GONE. PERIOD.

We are attacked from birth with chemicals and unneeded sugar, 25% of most baby formulas are SUGAR.

Eat natural and LIVE to the fullest.  And yes, the need to be prepared to react to an enemy attack on our own soil is one hell of a motivator to get in shape!

Best of luck to you!  I used to be about 250 and have lost about 30 pounds too.  Though I have been a bigger boy all of my life, I am very big boned :D, I am aiming to get back to where I was many years ago.  It is very hard, especially when we want to be glued to the news and whats going on, but we adapt.  I watch my news updates in the morning now while I work out, though I admit that there are days that the desire to laz around still exists.  Just keep it up and dont give up!  You will defeat the old you and become the you that you desire to be!  SHOW ME YOUR WAR FACE!  [url=http://yoursmiles.org/p-m

I'm overweight and trying to lose weight to enlist.

Your point?

Look, noone is calling you out.
It's just the way it is. If your not fit, you will lose the fight. Maybe not your first engagement or second. Eventually you will lose. I'm pretty sure there is a lot of individuals here that are not in the best of shape and talk mad shit.

Look at my latest video. I'm ten pounds overweight! Do I give a flying fuck? No, you know why? Because I'm trying.

You are too correct?
You mentioned your trying to lose weight so you can enlist. So Relax your in the fight because your trying. Keep up the hard work and don't let general talk bother you specifically because of that reason.

Good day to you.

Low budget training.

God damn Reaver, I want to call you guys out. I really do.

In 2008 I weighed in at 215lbs. I did exactly what Mountain suggests. No more sodas no more candy. If it tasted sweet and wasn't fruit I didn't eat it.

Today I still exercise (mostly on a roadbike) because it has become a good habit. I also do it to maintain my weight and keep my heart healthy.

Today I weight in at 185lbs. The last five pounds that are between me and being trim are just something that I am going to live with.

Find the motivation, your family, kids, friends or your own damn self.

And stay on it. We all have bad days, believe that I know this but that isn't a reason to quit. The person you are quitting on is yourself.

Actually, the government has no place educating chieldren in the first place. My point was that if they are regulating what they learn at school, they might as well regulate what they eat.

Damn right, Grudgie!

The system has no business educating, feeding or establishing morality and ethics in our children.
