I'm sure most of you saw that the U.K. signed mutual defense treaties with Sweden and Finland today. This is seen as an interim step before NATO admission for both countries, but as Boris Johnson said, it was done to provide a deterrent to Russia (unlike 1939). Should Russia invade Finland and Britain is called to honor the treaty, Britain could then invoke article 5 and involve all of NATO.
Diplomacy at its finest.
Considering Putin's comments regarding Finland joining an alliance, this could be one step closer to WW3.
Personally, I don't think Putin can realistically order an invasion of Finland while the Russian army is bogged down in the Ukraine, but then again- it is Putin.
