The difference between trained individuals & untrained individuals.
I got home from work tonight.

Decided to turn on the Boob-tube ( Tgirl....stand down ) So I hit the clicker and Walking dead Season 3 Episode 8 was on. Just as the firefight starts. So what happened?  Dudes & chicks getting owned by Rick and his crew.
Got me thinking, they wasted the guard guys and those individuals are barely trained Rick and his crew have a lot more experience. So they walk right through them. No one gets injured. Bad guys get slain. Why? Because of their experience and training.

What could have happened. The National guard guys where not slain needlessly and they helped train the wall guards. A hole is not punched through and Rick and his crew all die.

I Know cheesy analogy but it was there and it got me thinking. I generally pride myself on thinking outside the box. Its something that I believe is a must. One stays confined and they start losing touch with reality.

So what I want to do, and what I'm going to ask you all to do. Is stop training yourself in Prepping, gear, firearms, marksmanship. blah za blah za blah. Start training others. This will not only help train you, you will get to know yourself as well as your standing on said skills. AND this is the important part.

You will begin to learn how to teach others. This skill is more important than any other skill you can have. Some people are just bad ass, and I mean BAD ASS as stuff. 1. Slaying bodies, Target shooting, Survival, Prepping, Math, Reading, what ever the hell else you want to add in there, and they can't teach. So it's wasted once they pass. Completely wasted.

well there is my spiel. Sorry for the grammar issues. I'm not to good at it. Lol, but I hope I got my point across.

RvR out.

RvR, I agree with you 100%!  [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

In the past when I have facilitated training, I would go in thinking O knew it all. EVERY SINGLE TIME, even though I was the trainer, I learned something else.

Unless we do something stupid all of the folks on this forum will fare good to very good when SHTF. But one person or even two does not make an army. It takes other trained and dedicated folks. To do that we can train them now or do it later. Between you and I and the lamp post, I would rather do it now.

Later, the folks I trained can help train others when SHTF.

A karma point for you RvR for your thoughts.

If TG had read it, he'd realize that it wasn't a spoiler.  Besides, we watch the episodes with 505th who throws in spoilers as we're watching, some from the episode, some from the comic book, it drives TG mad! :))

Excellent point Reaver, and well stated! Don't let your grammar concerns stop you from sharing your ideas.  I've been living in WROG, world without rule of grammar, my whole life!

To expound your point, in recent years I've realized that most of the facts and vocabulary floating around in my head, are just that, floating.  They're not linked to each other in a meaningful way, just lone, useless shit that jingles when I walk.  I started really diving deep into making the math, physics, biology, chemistry, etc... applicable to my surroundings and my life, and the most helpful thing has been to try and teach other people about these subjects.  I can't tell you how many times I've suddenly understood something on a higher level because I had to "dumb down" info for someone, or I've been asked a question that I never would have asked on my own that revealed flaws in my previous logic.

This maybe a bad example, I'm definitely a student, not the teacher at this point, but here we go.  You all know what parts you need to build an AR, and you're not going to think much of the mechanics if you build it and it works.  The worst time to be thinking your way through the mechanics of it is when you are relying on it and it malfunctions.  If you teach someone about the contribution of each part to the whole of the weapon as you build it, that forethought might be what gets your gun up and running fast enough to save your life.

I think it's a great idea to test what we know by sharing with others, partly to build a more capable, secure Woodbury, but also to catch the flaws in our thinking before it really counts.     I agree with JM, more Karma for Reaver!  [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

I will say this.  I have been training myself for a while now and learning still.  But now I have the responsibility to train others and I can't wait for the next time I can get out there to it. Not only is it about making sure the people covering your ass are competent and well trained but also a sense of pride that you get when you see your people succeed.

Being a teacher also helps you learn. You get questions youve never had, or as you explain something there becomes a reason to what you always did, because as you speak it, it finally clicks. And some times you even realize errors in your methods. Is all good stuff. I think i learn quite a bit as i teach stuff.

one dude with a good dm gun could really rain hell on the wall, and if you could get an elevated position you could lay siege just smoking anyone who popped outside  until they let your friends go

Or until they toss one of your friends bodies out for you to see.  Hostage situations don't always end well with force.

*btw, haven't seen much of the new season yet*

Yupper...On occasion I would be asked a question I did not know the answer too or the reason for. I use to say, "I don't know the answer to that question but I will find out so we all will know."

I use to write the question down off to the side of the grease board or on a flip chart page. By the end of the day or by the end of the course I would get the answer...We all then learned.

My point here is: It is OK to say you don't know something. Admit it...Never fake it...And get back to the team assembled with an answer.

Good looking out RvR, teaching really helps you see the weakness in your own understanding, aside frome building community and adding to the ever increasing number of people who are getting ready.

These are all good things!

Good point on the FCG's in fact there is a part on an ak that if installed improperly will slam fire until the mag is empy, also on the ar. and before people ask it doesnt matter what part is it UNSAFE! But yeah take the time to teach your kids, friends or neighbors. You dont have to get into the whole in wrol you will need to know this, just hey you like guns want me to show you how to build an ar/ak or lets go camping and see how little we can take and be comfortable.
