Just watched a thoroughly bizarre flick called, The Objective, on Netflix. It's not the greatest movie, nor with the best actors, but found myself drawn in to the end of it.

I'd appreciate and read a basic how to of torrents. I don't completely understand how they work, and am very concerned about viruses.

I've written this one up for a 50+ guy.

Learning to Torrent in 8 Easy Steps

1st -
Download the BitTorrent program (It's the one I use) fuck Norton it's safe.
http://www.bittorrent.com/
Note: some Anti Virus developers are paid to see certain software (cracks / torrent programs) as harmful because of they are reduce profits from other companies .
Note: A Torrent site doesn't actually have the data you want, It's just a collection of “Get this here”direction signs.

2nd -
Go to the most user friendly torrent site: The Pirate Bay at: http://thepiratebay.se/
Due to it's outside of the legal framework role it is often targeted and it's IP address is shut down until their army of lawyers get's it returned, or moves it's self to an other Address.
There are other Torrent sites but they are not as user friendly and slightly less secure. such as:
http://kickass.to/.

3rd -
Search for the data you want. (There's a lot) so beware or  you'll might end up with a dubbed    Indian version of the blues brothers.
Also due to it's legal & free status the site tends to have some pretty bottom of the barrel    unsavory advertizing NSFW (like a real pirate bay! ;D)
A popup blocker is helpful although they don't do anything too intrusive like a chain of windows.

4th -
A torrent's download speed also known as "strength" is derived from the amount of people that are "Seeding" {SE} (sending data) and those like yourself who are "Leaching" {LE} (receiving data).
A torrent that has {SE 1000} & {LE 200} is a healthy torrent and you should be able to download that in good time.
While a torrent has {SE 6} & {LE 500} Is not strong enough yet, prepare to wait the better part of a day.

5th -
Find your healthy Torrent click on the link and See whether the specifics are to your liking. If they are, click the link: {Get Torrent} and your BitTorrent program should react with the site and start up on it's own or. if not pick it from the list of available programs.
Note: Other sites can do this differently by downloading a file, which you then open with BitTorrent.

6th -

A second window will load in your program (this might take a sec) in it will be a check list of everything that's in that torrent. Un-check anything you don't want or find suspicious. Then click {OK}.
Note: A list of file extensions should be helpful with that.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_file_formats_%28alphabetical%29
In short you want files that end in extensions such as: .AVI or .JPG and not .EXE or .RAR

7th -

You will then see your torrent downloading and your {ETA} (how long until it's done) also the speed at which you are uploading that same data "seeding"
Once done you can leave your program on and let it continue seeding that torrent. (this is how    you got it to begin with) so it's kind of an internet courtesy thing. You can also close the window and it will continue to run in the back ground unaffected.

8th -
Once you don't want it any more, right click the Torrent select {Remove Torrent + Data} and everything is gone.

Any questions just ask.

After The Dark: Kinda like every teen movie, but slightly more thoughtful and at times clever. Think I liked it? Is currently on Netflix.

I watched this a few months back.

THE GOOD:  It's well produced, acted, etc, and the story definitely keeps you interested.

THE BAD:  The final lesson put forth in the story is the antithesis of prepping; by teaching that the entire human species is not worth lifting a finger to save, so therefore everyone should live out their lives with no thought of the future... basically promoting the environmental extremist ideology that "humans are a plague upon earth and should therefore go extinct."

That being said it is worth a watch, but I wouldn't pay a ¢ for it because I refuse to vote for such an ideology with my precious pennies.
"It wouldn't do any good.  I've had the shit beat out of me a lot of times.  I just replenish with more shit."  - Billy McBride

Yesterday I watched "How I live now" and I really enjoyed it.
It being about a teen girl and his cousins and including some romance is the perfect movie to watch with your girlfriend/wife

Teen girl cousin love? I think you've been spending too much time chatting to the guys from the south.  :lmfao:

MrsMac and I watched After the Dark last night. We needed to take a break from current events.

I think that SK's review and his suggestion on how much you should pay to watch it was spot on.

After the second situation played out, I told MrsMac that I was going to bed. She replied, "you have sat there for 2/3 of this dog...Come on finish it with me." Well being the exceptional loving husband that I am; I grabbed a half a glass of wine and did.

So did the professor commit suicide in the end or not?

PS: Crudos, thx for the recommendation of the movie. Our reviews should not deter you from other suggestions.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118929/?ref_=nv_sr_1

A man struggles with memories of his past, including a wife he cannot remember, in a nightmarish world with no sun and run by beings with telekinetic powers who seek the souls of humans.

Released a year before the origional matrix, this movie's concept is similar if not more unnerving, the protagonist must distrust everything he knows in order to get at the truth and eventually set himself free of the conspiracy that hunts him.

Copy & Paste the following for Torrent :advance:

It also has Jennifer Connely in it!

Remnants, do you remember that movie? That was very similar to "Lights out" and that probably you are fucking tired of waiting...
Well you can watch it downloading a copy from thePirateBay. I didn't watch it yet.

MrsMc and I watched Remnants last night. We ordered/downloaded it from Amazon.com for $2.99.

For the price of a draft beer, it was worth it - Only barely though.

I was more amused by the comments from MrsMac during the movie then the movie to be be quite frank. Some of her comments were:

> Why isn't the community running patrols,
> Why is the community demanding that all households hand over their food to the community good and then store in
a central location. Kind of, "all of your eggs in one basket" kind of thing
> Etcetera...

On a JohnyMac scale of 1-5 with 5 being outstanding this was a solid "2.0" a perfect mid-week movie with little to no thought.
