California gun laws, what to do?

I understand the magazine ban has been slapped down for now.

Some things some people might do that make sense:

- Keep one full up, fully featured non-Cali-legal AR15 zeroed w/ reliable optic cached.
- Keep one Cali legal in your house for minor training.
- Go to neighboring states for serious carbine classes and rent their rifle.
- Buy ammo in neighboring states and cache it w/ cache rifle. (Ammo that is EXCELLENT for caching is this http://www.sgammo.com/product/223-556mm-ammo/1000-round-case-223-rem-56-grain-fmj-golden-tiger-steel-case-ammo-made-vympe-0  .....this is the new production batch where you DONT have to upgrade your firing pin/hammer spring for a hard primer.. accurate, laquered, bullet neck and primer nicely sealed a la russian mil spec. )

This way you can train and keep some minor combat power in your house.. but when there is a power outage and the orcs are killing everyone for food/water you get your cache rifle and are ready-to-go.
Also may not hurt to keep some spare jerry cans around while you're at it if you live in a densely populated area ( I do)

I prefer my M1A over an AR personally. If I wanted to go non-compliant, I'd go with an AK. The only theoretically illegal thing that might exist with an M1A would be having full-cap mags after the new law goes through.

But of course none of this helps fight laws. It just ensures I spend money on crap I bury in the ground. It might be more efficient toward that end, to just bury the money itself.

Out of curiosity though, why bury guns and what's the "dig it up" triggering event?

That's my friend is the million dollar question. Maybe the question might be When is the time to bury them. I personally don't have the money for a second set of guns to bury.

So is it a good thing or bad thing if you have a PVC 8inch pipe buried containing a 10-22, a ghost AR and a Hi Point 9mm?  Along with 500 round of 22 ammo and 250 rounds 5.56 and 200 9mm.  8x8x4 mags in order listed

All in vacuum sealed bags with O2 absorbers and weapons are well oiled.  Some other related miscellaneous stuff in the pipe with them.  Pipe had a fair quantity of dry ice in the bottom and the seal cap was glued on when it has stopped putting out enough to push the cap off.  Buried not far from home, but not at home.  Equilateral triangle on right of second and 3rd trees and you are standing on it.  Related kit on left side of tree 1 and 2.

Amazing amount of stuff you can get in a 6 foot pipe.  Especially when the wife says you need to let some go to reduce the pile in the house.

Get about 4 rolls of pennies(after 1982 they are zinc with copper plating), a tube of steel BB's, and some 1/4 inch rolled up balls of aluminum foil and throw the mixture all over the yard. The lawn mower shouldn't hit them and if anybody ever tries to find your stash, they'll get about 500 metal detector hits. That ought to make most folks give up.

I bought a giant pack of 10 of those 500 count boxes once.  I sure wish I could remember where they got put.  Knowing my wife she could have throwed them out the back door somewhere.

This seems way off topic at this point but anyone who uses a metal detector regularly, can tell the difference between a penny on the surface and a big hunk of metal 3ft deep.

 If you think someone is going to look for your stash, the rule of thumb is about  $1k per foot for a detector to reliably read and discern objects. So if you're 6 feet down, you might be safe. Or at least safer.

so take Nemo's idea and salt the yard with metal.  dig your cache and park your wood pile /compost heap/ water barrel/ patio bricks/ garden, et.al. on top of it.  an old WWII story, a cache was hidden under a drive way parking pad so the 'visitors' would park on top of what they were looking for.
