Full auto AK = some flat sheet steel and a drill.

Semi auto AK's are one hole, one pin, and one fire control group away from Rock and fucking Roll.

Don't even need that.  No need to drill the receiver or buy additional parts - as long as you have a tailed disconnector.  Yeah you'll get some trigger slap but with a hand drill and some sheet metal snips it can be done and be reversible - trust me ;)

Anyway full auto fire in  a SHTF situation where you don't have good resupply lines and your personnel isn't trained properly, is utter nonsense.
If all this was real, I would enforce my people to use semi auto fire, and maybe 1 or 2 guys would be allowed to use auto if the situation dictates it.

Gospel.  2 guys using well disciplined semi fire can be as effective as F/A with a lot less ammo.

I am and will remain a firm believer in initiating with a burst, particularly for an ambush but also as a response to contact as well. Vehicles get a full "kills a family of six" count (not with an ak or ar though) >:D

Good calls so far for the most part.  A couple things to remember are that with the weapons, you are dealing with a band of folks from all walks of life, legal and not, and not necessarily from Mass. originally.  So no telling where all of the weapons are coming from.  I completely agree with the fire discipline... annoying to watch but they are fighting a superior force  with little to no training depending on the player.

As to the specialty rounds, they only made a small amount of them back in S1 and probably used MOST of them up during that final battle or shortly there after.  They are also on the run, so scrapping mechs for metal probably isn't a high priority.  Especially considering that they are mobile and probably lacking in the equipment to make the rounds.  They have also been using AT weapons on the mechs so far, but allude to their limited number in the second episode.

According to the story, most of the military would have been taken out so you are seeing more along the lines of militia forces.  So gear would be mostly old surplus or even homemade stuff with only a little Molle.  Of course we are also only following one group of the human resistance, not that there are many left.  There was probably a lot of gear lost during the first months of the attack, especially with the "nuking" of certain cities in the storyline.  This along with the breakdown of mass transport of gear/goods would reduce the amount of gear available, hence more what you see currently in the show.

One good thing is that shows like this help get the sleeping thinking about what could happen in a SHTF situation and gives people like us something to talk about lol.

roger on all points.

Though I think hitting the dead mechs up for some sort of pieces parts would be rather important. I mean hell if the entire squad has 5 rounds each of that mech shit. There is no need for a law or an AT4

I think the writers just realized that they screwed it up because if you could destroy a mech by a single pistol shot, they stop being dangerous and are just another weak enemy, even weaker than the skitters.

That's my take about why the "magic bullets" disappeared, is a lot funnier seeing the resistance shooting heavy machine guns and being afraid of the mechs.

I will give the writers some credit.  In that ambush scene it looks like they actually thought things out with their positioning of the AT.  I wonder if Dye is still advising.

The show is really starting to grow on me. Last night's episode was really engrossing (as much as a 1 hour show, with commercials can be). Rock on 2nd Mass!

Is anyone still watching this show?

I can't believe how retarded it has become...

Spoiler:
Show content
Tom just walks out of the alien base? Karen kills Anne and the child instead of torturing them until Tom talks?

Who is writing the script? A 5 yo?

I'm so disappointed...  :suicide:

I am currently three episodes behind, thanks APX.  :troutSlap:  ;)

Yes, I do believe children might have a large part in the writing of this series.

Well I brought this subject out of the archives because MrsMac and I just stared to watch it on Amazon Prime.

1) We like it.
2) Like previous comments - Folks have an eclectic inventory of firearms all of which all seem to be top notch.  :what:
3) The only thing I hate is very POOR weapon discipline. There isn't a scene that someone doesn't have their finger on the trigger of a
weapon at inappropriate times or are "lasering" their team-mates. Hollyweird  I guess

If you haven't watched it, again it is on Amazon TV. If you have a Amazon Prime account, it is free.

Kinda drifted away from the show after I cut the satellite cord. But plan on catching up on the remaining seasons at some point.

The weapon handling does get better as the series progresses. Maybe actually part of the plot as people go from average joes to a pseudo-military unit and learn not to sweep their buddies and such. Dunno, maybe thinking too hard about that part.

They always seem to have a well-stocked variety of weapons around that is for sure.
