Starting Point - Prepping List (s)
« on: January 17, 2015, 01:43:36 PM »
As promised earlier in the month, attached are three excel lists that I and others in our group put together. We have been working off these lists when buying and storing things. These basic Beans, Band-aide and Bullets excel files were only put together as a starting point or a guide. I would hope you use them as a starting point and alter them based on your and your groups needs.

I am a firm believer that you need a list. A list is like acquiring a AAA road map before you start to drive on a long trip. The list keeps you going in the right direction and at the correct pace.

If you have any questions please ask as I am sure others may have similar questions.

Have fun...

Thanks for joining in Marie!

Pasta is good BUT like chips it will go rancid. Maybe include a pasta maker in your preps.

Oh this is a good thread.......

We are just about to do a major inventory and evaluation of our preps.

One of the big subjects my wife and I discussed on our way to Costco today was about this.

Once we have done our reorg and figured out a few things I will be sharing in detail what we have in mind.

On the food prep thing. We have and are taking a possibly different direction. Our major challenge is space. We live in the UK in an urban area and it is difficult to describe how chalenged we are in terms of storage space.

We scored big recently and bought an 18yr old camper for £1900 ($2673) believe it or not that was a good deal over here. Since we only have parking on the street outside of our house. We had to pay £500 ($703) for the year just to store it in a secure place.

So we are on a journey here. We need to biggest bang for the buck for everything prep related and factor in the space thing.

We have already found lessons on this. Yet we are testing it now and coming up with modifications.

As an example we are thinking that we can store 1yr of food in less space than the Mountain House option and for a massive amount less in terms of cost.

Cheers
Rob

Btw Rob, a couple of sheets of plywood, a dust ruffle and about 27 5g buckets makes a hell of a bed frame ;)
