Review of Kurt Schlichter's Latest Novel Crisis

With nothing to read over the holiday's I took Jackalopes suggestion and uploaded Crisis from Amazon to keep me occupied in-between projects.

Bottom-line first, I enjoyed the read and highly recommend it to folks and especially first-time readers of Schlichter's lethal hero, Kelly Turnbull. To be frank, I would rate this book the top one of the five-book series.

Earlier books in my opinion although fun to read where a bit over the top in believability. Perfect for a long airplane flight to the and from the Las Vegas Shot Show but not one I would run out and buy the day one was released from the publisher.

Although this book has its questionable moments, I could allow my eyes to go out of focus and take the plot in stride of the story. I would love 15-minutes to ask Schlichter a few questions of why he did not have Turnbull do 'X' or why he had him do 'Y'. I will let you, the reader of this post figure out those spots; however, since I have never written a novel, I will leave those moments up to the author's prerogative.

Schlichter has a follow-up novel to Crisis coming out later this year titled The Split. Because of Crisis, I will break my pattern and buy it the first day it is available to the public.

Yeah, I thought it was a worthy addition to the Kelly Turnbull novels.  It's a solid adventure novel, with some humor, at the liberal's expense thrown in.  Schlicter has a good handle on the schism in American society.  I'm sure the novels make some liberals' heads explode. 

    I still think Indian Country is the best novel of the series, though Schlicter's re-writing of the Kelly Turnbull background changes some of the dynamics between Kelly and his boss.
