Howdy from the Houston, TX, Area
« on: April 02, 2020, 03:21:54 PM »
Interesting times we are living in. I have been prepping to some extent since the late '80s by preparing for natural disasters, but my real intro came in the late 90's with Y2K and through my interest in wilderness survival. I have learned a lot over the years, but I am no expert.

My other pastimes include motorcycles and firearms. I spent four in the Corps ('88-'92) and three years as a LEO ('93-'96). I am a telecom engineer by education and trade. Spent many years in the telecoms industry and have been in oil & gas since 2007.

Looking forward to interacting with you all.

Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of good information here. There are a lot of Ham Radio operators here. Your Telecom background should be useful. I did a bit of food storage prepping for Y2K but I didn't get into prepping until Obama's election. I told the wife that we better spend all of our time and energy preparing for total collapse of society. We've been at it ever since.

Thanks for the welcome. I would say that we are minor league preppers. My wife never fully got onboard with the ideas, so I don’t have a BOL...but from a sheeple perspective, we are fairly well prepared. We have a few months of food, and we have a small garden. I have studied and prepared for home/personal defense as well as hunting & trapping. I keep a few bins of supplies ready to go if we have to bug out. You know, the usual stuff. :)

My wife also suffers from Normalsy Bias but lately I see her pantry full of stuff. She doesn't know about my stash. :lmfao:
