Hi, Newbie here
« on: July 14, 2015, 05:21:41 AM »
Hi,

I have been researching prepping for a long time, being in South Africa its really critical. Up until now things have been difficult and apart from having general Idea of what I need to do nothing has been put in place as yet. So I am starting from scratch and like most people in this forum and our country, EVERYTHING needs to be done on budget (TIGHT Budget).

I do have some survival skills, in South Africa learning to make fire, build shelter etc, is part of a family past time. I am an excellent marksman, but obtaining weapons in SA is really really complicated.

I am a mom of 2 and my husband and I realize, that running from our country cannot guarantee safety for our family, so little by little we need to start putting our plan in action to ensure our family is safe when the time comes.

I hope to learn and contribute a lot from this forum and hopefully meet like minded South Africans as well. As it seams Forums like these are not very big in SA as yet.

OK, so that's me in a nutshell, sorry for the long winded intro.

AHOY!!! We like long posts here, it makes the place look a bit busier

Budget is always a problem and I don't think that any of us are ever completely happy with the amount of preps we have done.

Heat, shelter, food and water. The 4 survival basics, you already have the 1st 2 down. The best piece of advice that I can give off the cuff is learn how to obtain water and make it safe for drinking. And then, of course, I have to add security to that list because it should, technically, be there even though it's not considered a survival "basic".

I look forward to reading your posts in the future and hearing your opinions on our existing threads.

APX brings up a good point when he wrote, "Is nice to see people from different countries joining the forum...".

The next financial depression will be a global event not isolated to our individual countries. Being able to have friends from around the world will greatly benefit all of us do to their knowledge and point (s) of view. If the internet goes down, hopefully we all will have access to a HAM radio.

Sorry...I digress from the original intent of this subject - Welcoming a new forum member.

Greetings Good Lady.  Glad to have you.  Just to make sure you are not a govt spy or something figuring we might have someone from you area here are you.

When we find a govt spy we slap each and every one of them with a trout.  Just like this:   :troutSlap:  Just so you know, it make you stinky and oooggiiiee.

Welcome PrepperMom!

You've come to the right place, we are all prepping on a tight budget, some of us a tight fixed budget ;)

We're gonna get started with some really basic stuff like 'where does your water come from?'

Hi Guys,

Was absent for a while. Life happens you know. Anyway!
I am most definitely not a government spy. I know my numbers and have some form of education   :lmfao:

Looking at the way things are going globally I think SA is probably the best place to be for now. Especially western cape.

I have been planning so much in my head, but nothing executed. I have to start training, being fit and healthy should be first priority before the world goes to hell right?
Also want to learn combat training as well as master a weapon or 2 that does not need a license.
I will try and be more active on the site from now on.

The knowledge here is amazing.

Thank you again for the warm welcome.

:lmfao: PrepperMom, I think the "I know my numbers" might be a bit of an inside joke, at least I hope so because it would be bloody embarrassing if the rest of the world knew how grossly incompetent our ruling party is.

Fitness is always important.

Depending on where you are I my be able to recommend some trainers for unarmed and close quarter weapons as well as archery clubs.

Good to see you pop in.

Greetings and Salutations Good Sir.  I do not believe anyone else here is from Namibia, but I do think there are a couple around here from South Africa.

Most of us here are from what is left of the US and one is over in Great Britain.  All around the world.  But we have not gotten into Asia or South America yet.
