racĀ·ism
ˈrāˌsizəm
noun
the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. To think that skin color, or physical appearances are the only differences between races is a bit illogical. You would have to assume that when the various races separated to the corners of the earth and adapted to their various environments, their outward appearance dramatically changed, but the brain was left in tact. Not only does this not make sense logically, it isn't supported by evidence. Intelligence tests have consistently ranked groups of people into different average intelligence scores for years.
But that isn't to say that one group of people is 'better' than another. They just adapted to their environments. A higher intelligence is required to survive in colder climates. For example, races in Europe had to adapt to the winter months. A person with an IQ of 70 would have difficulty with the concept of deferral of gratitude. To survive the winter you have to think long term, and delay immediate gratification by saving food for the winter.
So if someone claims not to be racist, all I see is a giant billboard on their head that says, "I ignore facts that are uncomfortable". I don't like these people.
