This applies to this thread...to a degree.
I went to Cabela's several weeks ago to buy a 8# jug of IMR 3031 powder. Now IMR powder works in just about every rifle cartridge I load .300 Savage, .308 winchester, 30/30, .35 Remington and .223. At Cabela's they told me that they had none and the store was expecting none.
OK so I tried to order it through Cabela's web site.
No can do as it is back ordered and the only way I can get it is to be placed on a waiting list Mmmm?
OK so I go to Midway and they tell me 8# jugs are on back order and I have to go on a list and maybe I can buy on or around December 12th BUT 1# cans are available. So I asked if I could buy 8, 1# cans for the same price and they wrote back, "no." Cheap bastards
Now 8#'s of IMR 3031 is about 2,000, .223 rounds. I have been known to shoot 500+ rounds in a weekend. Why is
DuPont I mean IMR not selling 8# cans of powder anymore and/or why do you have to jump through hoops to buy it?
Today public lands...Tomorrow the components that go into a round of ammo. If you are a reloader stock up now.
