I quit 3 + months ago after smoking 1 - 1 1/2 packs a day. I'm not going to say it was easy, but I will say that it was a lot easier than people make it out to be. It really is about mind over matter, and not letting your brain control your actions. Your brain is going to try to rationalize why you should continue to smoke, and try to convince you just to have one more. The sooner you realize the humor in the notion that your brain is having a conversation with yourself the better off you'll be, and the easier it will be to turn those thoughts off. You just need to have determination and will power.

The first 5ish days are going to pretty much suck, I'm not going to lie. Look at t

he situation in terms of hours and days at first. Don't look to far ahead or you'll cave into a craving. Feel accomplished every hour you go without a smoke, then move onto days, then weeks and so on. Try to stay away from things you associate with smoking for the first few days until you build some mental fortitude. That includes booze, coffee and yes...even sex (the after action smoke...yup; I had cravings then too.) Keep plenty of gum and shit on stand by. The nicotine gum works great but make sure you USE IT CORRECTLY. Biggest misconception amongst people who start using it is to just chew the shit out of it. No, chew until it tingles and park it between you gum and cheeks; or even under your tongue. You gotta let the nicotine absorb into your blood stream. I've also since started using Snus, researched it and the jury is still out on it's overall safety. But it helps better then the gum and doesn't kill you like smoking or chewing tobacco. I recommend the Camel green tin. Stay busy and try not to be idle for to long, keep your hands and mind busy.

If you fall off the wagon, no big deal. I've cracked and had a few smokes since my quit date. The key is to not let your head tell you that you're going to start again. Just pick yourself back up and get back on the wagon. And don't let people convince you that your day one starts all over again if you relapse and have a smoke; because that's just BS.

After a week you'll start to notice some really awesome changes. Your sense of smell is going to come back fully, as well as your taste. It's going to blow your mind; how numbed down everything was when you were a smoker. Your energy levels are going to go up, as well as your mood and general outlook on life. It's like a grey sheen curtain gets pulled away from your eyes, everything is more vivid and alive...it's hard to put into words. Plus all the other obvious positive health benefits. And guys...magical fucking things happen to your manhood with all that oxygen rich blood; I'll leave it at that. It's like being 18 again.
People who can't mange to quit smoking are little bitches. Zero mental fortitude and will power. How do you expect to mentally survive all the situations we talk about if you can't even man up and quit smoking; if you let a piece of paper stuffed with tobacco and toxins control you? If you can quit, you can pretty much accomplish anything after that.

I do miss my cigarettes...every single day.

You can quit, I know you can and I don't even know you. If I quit, anyone can quit. Hit me up with any questions or if you need any support. This will be the single most positive thing you will ever do for yourself.

That snus stuff is EXPENSIVE!

Sorry for interrupting but I'm trying to quit smoking too.   Walmart brand nicorete gum is the best. No more cigarettes to get in the way of that sweet sweet nicky.

lol. I have some kind of gum, not sure what brand though. this shit sucks. now it's just been a few weeks of: quit, fuck it up for a day or two, quit, fuck it up for a day or two.... and so on.

on a more positive note, today is my first range day in months.  :))

i have, now i dont smoke cigs, soooo i dont know if it fills that craving, because i dont know what it is you feens crave  :)) lol

but, i didnt really feel anything when i inhaled or exhaled, they taste different, i would imagine they fill that oral fixation more than anything. my buddy who has them said the PACK charges up through USB cable, and charges the 'shaft' and you put a new 'butt' on when that one is out, it might be the opposite dont quote me. he smoked 2-3 packs a week, yeah. and the electric pack, with all the 'butts' or 'shafts' lasted him 2+ months...
