war in iraq... training?
« on: February 11, 2012, 02:21:45 PM »
I never really buy into conspiracy theories and the like. I also beleive most sources people come up with are not very legit. But reading on here about drones going into US skys to keep watch on the people (was the most recent one I remember) and a handfull of other things, makes me wonder. Was Iraq just simply no more than a training event for our troops? I never once heard a good valid reason for us to be in iraq. Heard the weapons on mass destruction bit. The ones that we never have found. Heard the, they support terrorism bit. Backed by the insurgents there. You know insurgents, the guys that just wanted the foreign invader out of their country. Heard a handfull of other IMO BS reasons of why we were there. So by just vuagly throwing consipicy theories together, it make me wonder. Was iraq a training event for our troops, of things to potentially come for US soil? Either foreign invader or revolution. It sort of makes sense, it was the first war for us that was really mostly house to house fighting. Similar to how it would be in the US. Minus the fine sand. Like I said I dont much buy into alot of what people say, but you hear it enough or read it enough and it makes you wonder. I dont beleive it, I dont want to beleive it but what are your thought? Or should I just step away from the computer for awhile?

I don't think it was for training.  More than likely to get at the oil and put us forever in a debt we couldn't pay off.  As for the weapons of mass destruction, it depends on what you consider them to be.  I have friend who was part of a group held as a human shields during the first Iraq war.  He was a contractor in Kuwait and was taken prisoner when they were invaded.  For the duration they were held at an ammo depot.  He said that he doesn't care who says what.  He knows for a fact that Saddam had thousands of chemical and biological  munitions  because he saw them.

From reports Saddam transferred his chemical and biological weapons to Syria before his fall.  I think that is part of the reason Israel is making plans to invade Syria if the Government falls.  They are afraid Hezbollah will get their hands on those and thousands of missiles.

That's why I'm convinced the whole area "will" blow up.  It will be either Israel attacking Iran or Israel attacking Syria to control those weapons.  It would really suck to be in Israel right now.  They don't have any good options at all.  Every option sucks.

Funny, the Bible says when armegeddon starts Damascus will cease to exist.  I can see how that could happen very soon.

I have a buddy who is ex Army and was part of the first wave going into Iraq. He told me that once Iraq fell and things quieted down the US military found lots of WMD's just not the Qty's that everyone was led to believe.

To Sledges point they also found a lot of empty storeage bunkers. Either Saddam had destroyed the WMD's that use to live in those bunkers or they went somewhere else.

With all of that said Mighty9mm, I do like part your theory; in that if it wasn't part of the "big plan" the outcome is the same though- We have allot of folks who are trained now to do house to house fighting.

lol like what?
Seriously, if ANYTHING had been found in Iraq it would have been brought out and shown off out a loooong time ago.
We KNEW he had chemical and bio weapons.... then again we also had the receipts...

I know they found WMDs but it was shit. It was old rusted muntions left over from the 80's. SADDAM and his regime had completely forgotten about them. The only reason they were found was because the guy that hid them during the 1st gulf war still babysat them thinking Saddam still knew about them.

Saddam did try to indicate that he had WMDs though because he feared IRAN would invade if they knew he didnt have WMDs to repel them.
