I checked and sorted my supplies
« on: November 19, 2021, 08:03:36 PM »
Damn! I ordered 8 of those heavy duty Black plastic storage boxes that have the Yellow lid. They cost me almost $200. I decided that my supplies were too hit and miss and scattered in different containers. Well, they arrived today so I started sorting stuff out and putting related items together. I already had one in the house and one in the back of the SUV. So I now have 10. I went to work unpacking several of the flimsey plastic containers and putting related items in the new containers. So far I've repacked 5 containers and the work was exhausting. I'm pooped out and puffing blowing and all sweaty and still have 4 more to fill up. Well, I found out that I've got 20 spare radios plus the ones that are on each Backpack and Fanny pack. When I got half of it done, I looked at the stacked containers and my first thought was "It looks like I haven't even started yet." I'm tired and sore and my plan is to go at it again tomorrow. Hah, well see if that happens. I'm betting that I'm going to be so sore and stiff tomorrow that I won't even try. I found all sorts of things that I had forgotten about and/or packed in the wrong place. I found Sugar, Flour, MRE's, Slim Jims and Candy that should be packed in the food supplies. I even found my Night Vision IR device and my Geiger Counter. I guess I'll be surprised at what else I find when I get back at it when I feel stronger.

Do you have a link to the boxes you mentioned?  I use the MTM ammo crates a lot myself, but I'm always interested in other containers

I got them from AMAZON. They have 27 Gallon and 12 Gallon sizes so make sure of the size you order. Mine are all 27 Gallon. Here's the link.

You can get the same boxes from Lowes, Home-Depot, etc., for around $10.00

The plastic tote aisle in all the local Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, etc. have all been pretty empty for the last few months. I was looking for something a little more substantial to keep in the back of my car, I had a tough time finding anything even the right size, let alone a heavy-duty box. I built shelving out of 1/2 pallets in my garage hallway, they fit either large totes or fuel cans perfectly. Just watch them, if there's anything food-like in there, squirrels can and will eat right through the plastic to get at it. I even had one idiot tree rat gnawing on the gas cap on my tiller one winter.  ???

Depending on how much material you're putting in your car, those large MTM ammo crates work great. I keep 2 of the large ones in my car, one for bug out items, the other for car emergencies

I like to keep my GHB in a bin, lower visibility if anyone looks in my car. I also like to keep it looking more "automotive" than tacticool, again for a little more stealth. Plus this winter I'll be carrying more winter gear, including my snowshoes, either to get home in an emergency, or just for a morning walk in the woods to take pictures. The MTM ammo boxes in the crates are a great idea, I've looked at them before.
