This Liberal viciousness may backfire
« on: June 16, 2017, 09:27:30 PM »
I'm thinking that the more outrageous the Liberals become, the more moderate Liberals will see who they are in bed with and will distance themselves from the Vile and Vicious Radical Left. They might even come to their senses and vote more Conservatively. I will never understand how a gun owning Democrat can actually vote for a person who wants to revoke their right to own it. Maybe they are just in denial or something and just refuse to see what is smeared right in their face. Personally, on every issue, I always think, well that sounds nice on the surface, but WHERE DOES IT END IN THE LONG RUN?

Good comments pkveazey.

I think to what you write have already started to happen, e.g. Democrats voting for Mr. Trump in the last Presidential election.

i'm thinking that vigorous discussion and debate is a good thing.
BUT if there is no respect between the parties then you are only yelling at each other - nothing good ever comes from that.
the same is true on the conservative side.  Why would a voter who is just hanging on vote for a person who gives a huge tax break to the 1% wiping out the jobs of the persons who voted for them.
if the fringes of the left and right move more and more to the center it is important to keep lines of communication open.
i agree Pkveazey.
-
i find it amusing in the US of A's political landscape.
- it used to be the democrats who were the religious wing.
- it was the republicans who got reproductive rights for women passed.
- it was the republicans who ended slavery and passed the 13th ammendment.
(this list goes on and on)
US political parties tend to wander all over the map as people move between the parties.
;) i wonder if a third - constitutionaly center - party would be a good idea.

There are no liberals, the socialists have driven them so far left that what was once called a liberal is now called a conservative and a conservative is called hard right. They have driven out American jobs to other countries so that they're divided between 99% and 1%. There isn't a middle class to speak of any more. The only good job which I retired from was given to me by a 1%r.
If you raise wages for the so called poor all you are doing is lowering the middle class to the poor class which is what socialism does. There will always be a TOP, MIDDLE and BOTTOM in everything. Even a twelve inch ruler has a middle it's called 6inches.
There is no Republican party, they have become the Democrat party and the Democrat party has become the Progressive party.
In principle, no less than in practice, socialism is the ideology of thieves and tyrants.

I already call myself a Constitutionalist. Nothing would make me happier than a political party that was rabidly supporting the Constitution and the bill of rights. When laws are passed, they are supposed to pass a constitutional muster, so they don't end up being judged in the supreme Court. I question the validity of at least 20% of the laws passed by Congress.

I started calling myself a constitutionalist when I saw Speaker Ryan was hurting the country for political gain.
I think you are a little low with the validity of laws passed. The patriot act being the most harmful.

Trying to get a person to change political parties is like trying to get a Raiders fan to switch over to the Cowboys. They're all diehard and there's no logic behind it. The human Ego is fascinatingly unreasonable.

Not completely true. My wife came from a democrat family and is now a rabid conservative, her son-in law was a liberal but is now a moderate. My son was a fanatical liberal but now is a libertarian.
In my case you are correct, I will never change from a conservative.

Well there are of course those who go with whatever team their current household is a fan of because they really don't care much either way. I think women are more prone to this. In my experience women tend to mimic their male partner. They adopt the man's views. They look up to them.
