Title: Test
Post by: Currahee on November 21, 2013, 06:40:43 PM
I'm thinking of migrating away from YouTube so I need to test how a copuple of other sites work

The sound and resolution was poor on my computer vs. YT. I am up at the cabin and my internet speed is slow @ 1.3mpbs. When at home it is between 25-30 mpbs. BUT still my slow speed here has no problems with YT.

Looks good from my laptop.

Will you shutdown the YT channel? How do you plan to go about letting people know about everycitizenasoldier.org?

At this point I do not know, Google's seizure of YouTube traffic has pissed me off to no end... I would have a hard time actually shutting it down cause you tube traffic functionally funds everycitizenasoldier.org

I am venting my frustrations

For what good it will do, there's a petition concerning the YT/G+ fiasco:  http://www.change.org/petitions/google-change-the-youtube-comment-section-back-to-its-original-form (http://www.change.org/petitions/google-change-the-youtube-comment-section-back-to-its-original-form)

Be warned there are rumors about YT channels that promote this petition are being suspended.

The YT/Google monstrosity has gotten to big for its britches.  It's time for a replacement to come along soon.  I'd bet it's already in the works.

I refuse to use google out of knowing that they forward everything to the govt. I have a n account on YT but almost never use it anymore.

Edited technical error for clarity. ~ s-k

I just assume that .gov is looking at whatever I do online anyway, and thus it doesn't matter to me. :-)

Videos don't get views there (at Dailymotion)

I'm gonna run a couple without any external advert for Thanksgiving week , which is usually a busy time, and hope it picks up.

I hate watching a video that dosent send me to my YT app. On my phone for ease of viewing. I basically don't watch a video that's not on YT.

To switch now would be tough. Theres just so much on YT.

I'm open to new options though.

It comes down to the fact that we have given to much power to YouTube.  I suppose if you don't interact with it that much it wouldn't be a big deal.
