If you have not heard of these already today you need to turn on your tv, radio, computer or whatever other communicative device you have. If none, go ask your neighbor. No more comment on those. But a dollar says this will be a starting point for strong anti-terror laws which include gun control and strong internet regulation with expanded FBI surveillance. Throw in the Canada shooting and NY hatchet attack on 4 cops and the road is greased.

Get ready to start the fight the day after the elections.

Yupper Nemo. Maybe this is the October surprise that the DEM's have been looking for to turn the tide November 4, 2014.

I can see Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Valerie Jarrett and Sen. Harry Reid planning over the weekend on how to use this weeks tragedies to their favor next week.  You know..."Don’t waste a crisis” - Rahm Emanuel?”

Now with that said, I also can envision the GOP jumping on taking away more liberties too. Maybe a revised "Patriot Act." 

I am sorry to be so pessimistic in my writing's. Just think we need to throw all the leaches in Wash. DC out and return to a more strict interpretation of the US Constitution.

On a different note: Only six days till Halloween. We NEVER get trick or treaters up at the cabin yet MrsMac bought candy. What is that all about?

Those numbers were not quite accurate.  I posted based on what info I had at the time, which is what the news channels were reporting.  Sorry.

As to the trick or treaters, I live in the house in the back of a campground.  I get none either.  I guess I don't know why.  But I get to eat the candy!!! 

Could it be that you just live too far out in the woods?

Actually, he got it from one of his and his boss's favorite mentors, Saul Alinsky.  It was one of the instructions in his Rules for Radicals.  I'm sure most know, but for those who do not.  His book was a set of guidelines on means to spread communism.  By the way, our potential next president, Hillary Clinton, did her thesis on Mr. Alinsky and his renowned writings.  Personally, from all that I've witnessed over the years, I think that they should change from being called democrats, to being called comrades.  I'll leave it up to each of you individually to decide if that would be a good or bad thing.

I think there's a big difference between socialism as ever actually practiced and the idea that a rising tide floats all boats.

I also think this won't sway votes. From talking to folks here it seems like all current events do is reinforce existing biases. If I'm honest, I find myself doing that, too, looking at events through my own filter.

The center of the national debate over firearm background checks has, for the moment, moved to Washington state.

Next month, residents of Washington state will get to vote on whether gun buyers should be subject to background checks for purchases made at gun shows or online.

Activists on both sides say the ramifications of the vote could extend far beyond the Pacific Northwest.

Last year, in the wake of the massacre in Newtown, Conn., six states tightened their rules on background checks. Congress, however, didn’t pass federal legislation to do the same. A vote to tighten background checks could rekindle momentum to similar efforts in other states. In Nevada, for instance, one group is already collecting signatures in hopes of getting a background-check measure on the 2016 ballot.
