very eventful Independence Day
« on: July 05, 2012, 02:23:49 PM »
the evening carried on like any other 4th festivities would typically carry on. bunch of neighbors and I shooting Black Betty (my truck) with roman candles and bottle rockets, drunken laughter and rambling, etc...
cops came out to tell us to STFU at around 10:00pm (they weren't called, they were just cruising the neighborhood telling everyone to STFU because noise ordinance starts at 10pm)

*side note: nicest cops I've ever encountered. we were all pretty surprised at how friendly they were. they literally asked us if we were almost done instead of just telling us to stop. lol.*

all in all, a typical 4th.

so a little while after the cops left we heard one of those horrible *CRUNCH* type of crashes that can only be the sound of a car accident, and upon looking down the street, an entire wall of one of the houses was caved in, then another CRUNCH, and about two more after that. finally we realized what was happening. a pickup truck drove straight through a house, but it was no accident because the following crashes were the sounds of him REVERSING and hitting the house AGAIN! motherfucker was on some kind of rampage.

ok ok so anyway, after several minutes of gawking and investigating, we went back to our carrying on. here's the strange part of the story. no less that 30 minutes later the place was completely engulfed in flames. the reason I find it strange/suspicious is the amount of time that elapsed between the initial crash, and the time the fire started. wouldn't it make more sense that the fire would have started relatively quickly after the crash? another interesting thing to note is that this morning, they pulled the burned truck out of the rubble (the place burned to the ground), but the drivers body was found OUTSIDE the truck.  ??? it wasn't the kind of crash that would have ejected him from the truck (plus he drove back and forth purposely through this house multiple times).

so is it possible that he got out of the truck and set the place on fire? (remember how long after the crash the fire started). and if so, why the hell would he stay in there only to be burned alive?

once the place was already on fire, there were multiple explosions. i mean, the kind of explosions where you can feel the concussion in your chest. gas lines I suppose.

either way, the entire thing was just strange. everyone in the whole neighborhood flocked down to my street to check out the scene. it was like something from a movie.

so anyway, there's my Independence Day recap, lol.

lol, honestly man, not a bad one. i mean, for my standards at least... lol. it's just average middle class/ lower-middle class, mixed race. I've been here for a year and a half and this is the first major disturbance. the neighbor claims to hear gunshots alot but I'm not so sure about that. my ear is far more trained than his to identify gunshots (plus I've lived in some REALLY nasty neighborhoods where you really DO hear shots all the time. also, for you rural guys, gunshots sound WAY different in a densely populated urban setting than they do out in the woods). I think he's misidentifying what he thinks he's hearing.

i don't know man. i really don't. we have multiple amateur videos of the fire but not the crash. all that our videos would prove is that a fire took place, which is obvious. the funny thing is that myself and my neighbor both told several of the cops on the scene that we can verify with certainty that it was at LEAST 30 minutes before the fire started from the time the truck did all it's damage. we both told them that, in our amateur opinions, something about that seemed very wrong. they didn't find our stories very compelling, and didn't even bother to take down our info. just brushed us off like dandruff on their shoulders. the whole things stinks like hell. we counted about 5 or 6 major explosions. one could have easily been the trucks gas tank, another could have been the natural gas line for the house, maybe a propane tank for a BBQ pit, and i guess some spare gas cans. but the explosions weren't like one after another. they were spread out several minutes apart, all the while the house was totally engulfed. you'd think that a fire that intense would set off any explosive/combustible material fairly quickly. idunno man. very stinky situation.

propane tanks/ gas cans take awhile to go off.
I was at a fully enveloped warehouse fire filled with plastics and hazmat items propane etc..
It wasn't until about 3 hours after the fire started kicking that the propane tanks started going (small and big).
