I don't know, are you going for digi-cam, multi-cam, what? Just remember, light colors to dark. Just kidding, I had a similar bike when I was about 16. I had a lot of fun on it. I almost got seriously hurt on it a couple of times, but then, that's when I was doing stupid stuff. A guy at work has one like it. He has hit a deer with it on two different occasions. Both times, he was almost killed, and both times, he spent months in the hospital. ( one time in a coma )  Other than crashing, they're a lot of fun.

IMO: Have a Bug Out Location first then the dirt bike.

Good luck.

Hey backwoods, how about a solid used 4 x 4 pickup or jeep?  With a bike you only get to take a backpack and a pistol with you.  I know it sounds practical and boring, but with a truck you get to take a tent, food, more gear, extra gas cans, a shotgun, and a rifle if you want.  You have a lot more driving range with a truck and extra gas than with a bike.  Plus you still retain some off-road capability.  It's not even a safety thing, a truck just opens up a lot more options for you. That's really cool that at 16 you'd be looking at a street legal dirt bike instead of the fastest crotch rocket, good for you bwb!

Now here comes the motherly side of this: Regardless of where you plan to ride it, get the best helmet money can buy, where legit clothing that will lesson the road rash, and always ride in traffic like you're invisible to drivers because you usually are and people are irresponsible dipshits.  TG and I have lost some good folks in our lives and know a lot of folks missing body parts and/or some brain function due to motorcycles.

I agree with 1000ms about a truck or jeep being a better bug out vehicle, and a bike can only hold yourself and one lucky gal, while a truck or a jeep on the other hand...

Whatever you decide, just be smart and safe about it  [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

BWB, I use to work for David Bertram (Google him) who is the CEO and founder of Cycle Gear.

That man pretty well founded "off road" racing on dirt bikes. He can't close either of his hands completely, he lists to port, as he has had his shoulder broken; limps because of multiple leg injuries and I could go on and on.

I have lost two close friends while riding street bikes. One was wearing a helmet one was not. I have lost umpteen business acquaintances too while in the industry.

PLEASE be aware of what you are getting into and as TGrl wrote, Buy the best helmet you can afford. Remember, if you accidently drop your helmet on a hard surface buy another one.

Good luck.

Too think of all those great guys who I'll never see again because of the 6' of dirt between us..

Like Ken said, if it's for fun then you have my blessing but I will tell you there are better enduros out there.

Water cooled takes maintence and gives you a radiator to bust. Electric start.. same story.

The only thing this bike has going for it is that it's a four stroke.

My buddy said hell buy one if i get one and i know he will cause he has the cash so we will mostly be rolling around town in a group. btw JMAC! theres a cycle gear in town! If i bug out on that bike im high tailing it to my uncles house in the backwoods of Mississippi. Speaking of hiting deer.... skip to 7:35

If you would like to work at "that" Cycle Gear near where you live, PM me the location and I might be able to put a good word in for you there.

Working there you will be in contact with a lot of people in the business so you would have umpteen used bikes at your finger tips to buy before they are posted in the news paper. You would also get a sweet "employee discount." Employee discounts = the best helmets and off road gear for penny's on the dollar.

Last, you would have access to some great instruction which I agree 100% with what Walker wrote...Get some instruction!

MDF is heavy, really heavy.

Cabinet shops are hot in the summer and cold in the winter, there is always dust in the air or solvents and not only are they the loudest place in the world but they are typically filled with assholes who never would have imagined when they began working with wood that they would have spent so much time on an edge bander...

Believe that I speak from experience.

Remember TG, I'm always right... maybe even once about a truck...

The cabinet shop that TG's experience was in, was not necessarily the same.  Is it someone's small business or big business, crank 'em out sweat shop?  If you're working closely with skilled folks you'll learn a lot, just don't make a career out of it.  Also, pay very close attention to where your digits are at all times (machines each fingers), wear earplugs all the time so you don't end up deaf like TG (although it helps it you plan to get hooked up with a lippy woman) and handle the solvents with care (hopefully there's some ventilation in the shop), a lot of those materials are sperm altering, but you shouldn't be having kids for a while anyway.

If I remember correctly, TG loved the job aside from working with idiots, the long commute from our house, and the fact that it was a job-- the fine work ethic that he exhibits today is the result of some... soft-footed coercion ;)

Either that or cycle gear should be great jobs for a young man while he finishes high school, but set your sights on bigger and better things, the world is waiting  :)

Note: read quickly, I may have just undermined someone's authority who has the power to make this post disappear :))

Oh yeah?

She is right, if it is a labor of love you can learn a lot... you won't earn shit because love doesn't pay it's bills. The labor of love guys you work with will be less inclined to let you use the tools or do the work because they can't afford any fuck ups.
