As a child of the 70's, at a time when you'd see a Soldier of Fortune magazine at a bookstore or store magazine rack. I'd sneak from my allowance and buy copies when I could. Followed the fantastic (and not so fantastic) tales of 'Bob' and his exploits in Africa during the merc heydays of the 60's and 70's. Found this decent overview of his 'career' and thought I'd share for those too young. Also from the old SOF, I learned about survivalists, the pre-cursor to the current prepping movement. Twas heady times for a young mr. crudos back then.

Bob's got it right, I've always said myself if there's one thing Africa can't get enough of it's bat shit crazy dictators to keep things interesting and the people miserable...
