I don't know, shooting him may have been a little overdoing it, but I gotta go with backwoodsboy on this. You lay your hands on somebody else, you do it at your own risk. You hit somebody, they may not shoot you then, but they may come back the next day and pop ya, out of the blue, Or, they may throw a pipe bomb through your living room window, killing a loved one. It's probably best if nobody hits anybody else. But we know that's not gonna happen.

I agree with BWB and Thatguy on this topic.  I'm not trying to sound all bad or macho, it's just the truth.  Anyone who strikes me is in a life and death conflict.  If they didn't know that going in they should have become familiar with the phrase "don't fuck with people that you don't know".  I live by that phrase.  I don't screw with people whether I know them or not. 

It's not like it was years ago when guys would settle their differences with their fists, then walk away and most likely become friends later.  The culture has changed.  Today if someone strikes you they probably are trying to kill or seriously injure you.  Usually for no good reason.  I've only got one answer for that.  I'm a sinner and probably hell bound when it comes to turning the other cheek.  Especially in this culture.

EXACTLY! I will not put my mom or anyone in my family at risk just to "show someone up" or your not afraid to hit them cause the people that may end up hurt the most is a loved one. If i were to punch some old man i didnt know i expect him to pull out his 45 and blow me away.

3:30am working a gas station and one dude gets in your face and keeps moving you into the store while the other dude gets around behind you.  Even without getting punched in the face that situation was shady as shit and the clerk was probably expecting to get jumped, robbed, or both.  Seeing the video of protesters with signs saying shit about homeboy being a young father makes me want to go protest with signs saying, "young father, should've acted more responsibly", "Mouths to feed, don't get shot".  This wasn't settling differences in a bar fight, this was violence and intimidation toward someone in a place of business, not the same thing.

People need to learn to act right and that clerk just lowered the learning curve for those boys...

-Is it a legally justified shooting, or "Clean shoot", NO. He went outside that locked building to CONFRONT the guy. Thats not even stand your ground laws. He went towards the man. He had a gun and he went looking for the fight. Rule # 1 is you have no bussiness getting into fist fights with a gun on you. If a man hits you and you have a gun and its a one hit wonder and your able to get away. YOU NEED TO. If you cant escape and hes beating the shit out of you, and you fear your going to lose conciousness then thats reasonable fear of serious bodily injury because you cant defend yoursefl once your unconcious. Many people dont realize it but the fact that you have a gun on you means a guy can spit in your face and you are obligated to take it like a bitch and leave without even so much as angry words that might stoke the fire. From a legal standpoint.

If i was in that store working with that guy, and he tried to unlock the door and go confront the man, id split his lip myself before he even got it unlocked. Only reason that dude felt so tough is he didnt know the laws and thought he litterally could shoot anyone who tried to hurt him. And thats exactly what happened. If he isnt arrested and convicted hes a lucky freaking duck.

Hey T-girl, I thought the man behind the clerk was the store owner or something. He was moving around from back to side as the clerk was opening the door. But the news guy (Rucks) said that the clerk was also in fear because Calloway's (?) friends were armed. Ken, you're right, he should have never opened the door. But opening the door also doesn't allow somebody to punch you in the face. The whole thing could have been avoided. I know I have changed my behavior some, since I have started carrying. Like with road rage for instance, I use to flip people off if they pulled out in front of me. Now I don't. When you are carrying, you should go out of your way, not to escalate a situation.

I guess I didn't see the whole thing, what I saw was the door already open and assumed that the other guy was the "victim's" cousin.  However it goes, I don't have a lot of patience for belligerence.  I do agree with you guys about behavior changing when packing heat though.  I used to get terrible road rage, but now I cruise in traffic and brush it off when people are being stupid, they're not worth the ammo, the court fees, or peeing in front of people on cold concrete for the next decade.  I was tempted to pistol whip some dumb C I saw dumping trash onto the side of the road out of her car the other day though...  I really have no tolerance for litter bugs above all else

That saying dosent apply when theres no chance of being carried by six. Dude was a thug with a gun who happened to be at work. I dont feel bad for anyone involved. Thugs can hurt each other all they want. Arrest them all and see how it goes.

If I was working the graveyard shift at a gas station, I'd be armed.  I don't think I would've opened the door, but who knows.  At that point, what do you do, you're being assaulted and you have a gun in your pocket that might fall out or into the other guys hands if you start defending yourself.  So how much of an ass whooping do you take, and how do you make the determination, while you're being assaulted, that your life's not in danger?  I can think of a few ways it could have ended with a clerk in a coffin...

We can debate as to who was right/wrong or what we would do in this situation all we want. The real victim here AGAIN is you and I.

Society is broken and every time something likes this happens it gets more broken. I just shake my head when I read macho mantra like, "If someone touches me I will blow them away!" We (me included), I am sorry to write, are becoming like 'them.' Disagree? How many of you folks enjoyed the movie, Gran Torino? Why?
