Title: Looking for a Hat
Post by: JohnyMac on December 12, 2014, 08:50:21 AM
I am looking for a M1911 Campaign Hat (http://www.millerhatstore.com/store/military_hats) but I can not afford $180- for a hat! Does anybody out there have another source I could purchase one from?

Thanks!

Looks like a regular old "slouch" hat with accessories. I'd look at the reenacting sutlers (civil war / western) and if you wanna add the cavalry stuff, they'll sell that too. A regular slouch hat ought to be in the 60-75 dollar range if you don't have to have a brand name like Dirty Billy.

YEAH! Thx TG

My brother and a friend of ours is up at the cabin for deer season. Last night we were watching The Wild Bunch. Our guests and MrsMac all started getting on me about buying a campaign hat as seen in the opening scenes in the movie.

Apparently it was decided that I needed a different look about town. So this is where the request for info comes from.  ;D

The Wild Bunch (2/10) Movie CLIP - Bank Shootout (1969) HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOJJm_cSRds#ws)

Please note the use of 1911 handguns  ;)

I don't know what those covers are made out of but I have seen people stand on top of them and they didn't budge.

Rt. 50, in Fairfax City, about 15 miles out from downtown DC, south side of the road there is a little hat/boot store.  They will most likely have it and about the number your are looking for.

I am confident you will not find a website for them as it was run by a 240 year old H&W, (each, not combined) who laughed at me when I suggested website.

I do not recall the name but I strong suspect they are still there and not real tough to find if you drive the area.
