Title: Leather Makings
Post by: Nemo on September 04, 2015, 10:54:47 PM
I have been interested in leather crafting for a good while.  Probably years.  Never really had a chance to do anything regarding it.  Time, life, work and such prevented.

A while back I made a sheath for a knife I found after wife's dad went on to his great rewards.  I think I posted pics here, if not let me know and you can have a look at my first leather crafting attempt.

Anyway, wife was talking about something to keep her scissors in.  She made a zip pouch and wanted them to not tear it up and such.  I got the great idea to let me try making something. She also has a roller blade material cutter.  Then she mentioned and asked if I could do something to make them side by side in one after I started.  So, look below.  The square one is the first one just for the scissors.  The strap fits in through the cut to hold scissors in place but not really good at putting it in place or keeping them

The second works pretty slick.  So far anyway, I finished it about half hour ago. Note they are not in order but you should be able to tell what I mean just by looking and reading.  Also, the metal ruler is 6 inches, just for scale.

Thought gents?  Suggestions, questions, snide remarks?  Please let go with your best.

Looks good. What kind of a stitching tool did you use?

Used a 6 hole punch, (kit I use is below) putting 2 into the holes from the last, to keep the line straight.  Then using the internal thread (not split up) from 550 cord in a needle.  Needle threaded and end tied up so it was basically 2 threads were used.
