Title: Latest news on an old topic.
Post by: pkveazey on February 18, 2020, 03:14:20 AM
The Virginia Senate Committee tabled the insane gun law Bill. It is now dead until next year's session. Hopefully all the Democrats who were pushing it will be voted out of office in the November election. Those damn fools have no idea how close they came to starting a war. I'm not an activist but I told my wife that I'll just sit back until the shooting starts and then and only then would I get involved. I can't believe that Democrats just have insane ideas pop up in their pea sized brains and just run with it. They have no idea or consideration for the consequences of their actions. Its as if they think they have all the answers yet they have never had an answer for anything yet.

Congratulations, VCDL!  Your phone calls, emails, attendance at the Second Amendment Sanctuary hearings, attendance at General Assembly committee hearings, and attendance at Lobby Day has paid off - HB 961, the "assault weapon"/higher-capacity magazine/suppressor/bump stock ban, is DEAD for the year!

Thousands of gun owners packed the General Assembly building this morning and flooded the hearing room.  After hearing public input and debating between committee members, the bill was passed by for the year!

The following Senators voted in a bipartisan manner to protect your rights and kill HB 961 (Republicans in red and Democrats in blue): Chafin, Deeds, Edwards, McDougle, Norment, Obenshain, Petersen, Stanley, Stuart, and Surrovell.

The following Senators voted in a partisan manner against your rights: Boysko, Lucas, McClellan, Morrissey, and Saslaw.

Next year, the battle will continue, but if we fight like we did this year, vote in every election, and support pro-gun candidates, we will continue to be a force to be reckoned with.

We dare not get complacent again.

We are far from being out of the woods.   Red Flag laws, Universal Background Checks, and destruction of the firearms preemption law are still very much alive this year.  Watch for upcoming action items.

The Red Flag law is unconstitutional so when is someone going to sue their state? So many New Yuckers and New Jerkseys have moved down here I fear it won't happen in Delaware any time soon.
By the way isn't there a bill in the Supreme Court about gun control if so where are they?

SCOTUS heard argument on NYRPA v New York regarding being able to take a handgun outside of the city.  No decision yet.

Another 2A challenge. This case involves a ban on commonly used semi-automatic firearms in Cook County, IL.

This Reply really drills it, in that the other lower courts who have reviewed similar laws have run afoul Heller.

"Therefore, the fact that the lower courts have widely disregarded Heller is not a disqualifier for this Court granting review; it is a point in favor of doing so."
