What should I fly from my flag pole to show my disapproval for folks disrespecting the flag?  I have a few ideas, but I'm pretty sure I'd be breaking the forum rules if I list them ;D

So.... who's desecrating the flag?

Flying an American flag upside down[edit]

Flying an American flag upside down is not necessarily meant as political protest. The practice has its origin in a distress signal; displaying a flag in this manner is "a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property";[77] it has been used by extension to make a statement about distress in civic, political, or other areas.

As Special-K quotes, flying the flag upside down isn't desecrating it, on the other hand writing on it with a sharpie is.   :whip:

I actually said disrespecting, not desecrating.  Flying a flag upside down is an SOS signal and should be used appropriately as such.  It'd be smart to maintain a few universal lines of communication in case the morse code app on our cell phones fails...  ::)
