Title: Independence Day Traditions
Post by: patriotman on July 04, 2019, 10:48:06 AM
Do you have any? I put mine in a short blurb on AP, and then JohnyMac chimed in with his traditions in the comments there. Anyone else have a traditional then do for Independence Day?

When we lived in RI the tradition in our small seaside village was to meet at the WW I memorial and a group of us would take turns reading the Declaration of Independence every July 4th, rain or shine. Since MrsMac and I have retired to the free state of Pennsylvania we each take the time to read out loud or in silence the D of I.

MrsMac and I also watch the play 1776 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xQ3JxDzNfc) one afternoon/evening over the national holiday. It's a fun play with catchy tunes.  ;D

Now on another note: My mothers birthday is on July 4th. Today she is 87! As I have reported in the Radio Board of this forum, I am working the 13 Colonies contest, baking a B-Day cake, and going to cook 3-lobster tails this evening. Yummy! It's a busy day but oh well.

Wishing all at UP a safe and fun Independence Day!

Not part of my normal traditions but I did get to watch my mortar platoon shoot off 120mm mortars and then sleep under the stars. Only thing missing was a few coolers of brew.
