I think this explains what is wrong with the sheep.

David Galland recently read They Thought They Were Free: The Germans, 1933-45, by Milton Mayer. He quoted a passage in his column of last Friday. It goes a long way in explaining why Americans appear to be such whipped dogs today. They're no different from the Germans of recent memory. For those who missed it, let me quote it:

"You see," my colleague went on, "one doesn't see exactly where or how to move. Believe me, this is true. Each act, each occasion, is worse than the last, but only a little worse. You wait for the next and the next. You wait for one great shocking occasion, thinking that others, when such a shock comes, will join with you in resisting somehow. You don't want to act, or even talk, alone; you don't want to 'go out of your way to make trouble.' ? In the university community, in your own community, you speak privately to your colleagues, some of whom certainly feel as you do; but what do they say? They say, 'It's not so bad' or 'You're seeing things' or 'You're an alarmist.'

"These are the beginnings, yes; but how do you know for sure when you don't know the end, and how do you know, or even surmise, the end? On the one hand, your enemies, the law, the regime, the Party, intimidate you. On the other, your colleagues pooh-pooh you as pessimistic or even neurotic? the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds or thousands will join with you, never comes. That's the difficulty. If the last and worst act of the whole regime had come immediately after the first and smallest, thousands, yes, millions would have been sufficiently shocked? But of course this isn't the way it happens. In between come all the hundreds of little steps, some of them imperceptible, each of them preparing you not to be shocked by the next. Step C is not so much worse than Step B, and, if you did not make a stand at Step B, why should you at Step C?"

You're probably right. I imagine the Romans also experienced this. First, their republic fell, then their empire fell. Through it all they demanded to be comfy and entertained...sad.

I great description of what happened to the Jews prior to WW II can be read in Andy Andrews book; How Do You Kill 11 Million People. It is a short read (45-60 minutes) and you can read it over a cup of Starbucks coffee at B&N and then put it back on the shelf.  :)) Like Milton Mayer wrote, If you don't get pushback after Step A you go to Step B then Step C, etc.

Starting at the beginning of the 1900's and accelerated after WW I your and my liberties have slowly been vanishing- One little step at a time. It's the old frog and the boiling water story.

Just look what happened to Randy Weaver and his family: Where was the outrage? How come the shooter who took out Weaver's wife while she was nursing her baby was never prosecuted? Or the Branch Davidians at Waco: Where was the outrage then? The ATF originally showed up due to a dispute over a $200- tax bill yet how many people died. Or most recently which was reported on SP about the supposed drug bust in Tuson AZ. where the police raided the wrong house and a man was shot. Where is the public outrage? Or my favorite, Fast & Furious- How come nobody has been fired over that one? How come Congress isn't investigating Holder?

Each time one of these events happens and the elite get away with it they become emboldened to go to the next step. To the public the next step or event isn't so bad. I am as guilty as the next man as we become desensitised.

Yes I write my letters to my Representatives and get form letters in return. Yes I send money to organizations and some politicians but they use the money for not what it was intended for. Yes I try to talk to my neighbors and friends and for the most part get ridiculed or laughed at.

At some point I will throw up my hands in frustration and think "Boy I have wasted so much time and energy trying to change things but to no avail." Well I am not at that point yet but I am close.

What will it take for Americans to say with one voice, "STOP!" I am saying stop here and not shoot before some moderator moves my post or deletes it.  :))

So there you go...Good post Sledge...Thanks.

Yep thats the scary thing... no big events to make the people realize... and if all goes acoording to plan im sure there wont be any big events to come. its hard to get mad at two faced people... you never see them screwing you but you know damn well every time you turn your back they are infact screwing you. at a certain point you have to just look at the big picture and decide if enough is enough. draw a line where ever you think it should be... and even though your staring at the dirt right infront of your feet. once you walk up to that line youll realize even though its not really THAT bad here at step F that back at step B you said step F was as far as you would let it go and you arent taking another damn step.
Simplicity Is Ideal...
